I'm sometimes over-critical, but there's something about an excellent anime that makes all of the trash I have to sift through worth it. No matter what, like a repressed childhood memory, I just keep coming back.

Given that, one might be surprised by the collection of shows I have in my top 5. I can't explain it, and some days I look at my profile, always keeping my ego in checkiarecultured, and ask myself, "this honestly appeals to me?" It just does; it's a great metaphor for life that way.

Outside anime, I write and read fiction and play video games. I work in economics at the University of Chicago as a research assistant and undergraduate. Projects go slow; I turn to my hobbies.

That seems to be happening to me a lot lately.
