Naomi Ishida was born on August 6, 1969. In 1993 at the age of 22, she joined Kyoto Animation as a cel painter and color checker for series such as Inuyasha. Her work as the color designer for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya led her to become one of the studio's most prominent colorists. Other notable credits include color design for Hyouka, and for the award-winning film A Silent Voice.
Naomi Ishida died on July 18, 2019, along with 34 of her colleagues, in the Kyoto Animation arson attack.
