He's hyped because his best works are really good. Mainly for their writing and the direction. Unfortunately his ideas aren't easy to understand for the mainstream audience and the often don't have great visuals to accompany them. If you don't like his works, then just leave it at that as one day maybe you might.
I don't understand why he is so hyped. I don't like his works at all. He's a little overrated if you ask me. :(
