Both series are about a seemingly ordinary guy who gets drawn into an underground conflict between supernatural beings. Individual battles take place in a sort of pocket dimension which outsiders can't access, but the protagonist in each series somehow gets drawn into them despite this. There are also hints that the protagonist in each series has some super special powers, but none of the characters can figure out exactly what those abilities might be.
One night, Madoka has a terrible nightmare – against the backdrop of a desolate landscape, she watches a magical girl battle a terrifying creature. The next day, the teen's dream becomes reality when the girl – Homura – arrives at Mitakihara High School as a transfer student, mysteriously warning Madoka to stay just the way she is. But when she and her best friend Miki are pulled into a twisted illusion world and meet a magical creature named Kyubey, the pair discovers that magical girls are real, and what's more, they can choose to become one. All they must do is sign a contract with Kyubey and agree to fight witches that spread despair to the human world, and in return they will be granted a single wish. However, as Homura's omen suggests, there's far more to becoming a magical girl than Madoka and Miki realize...

Both plots revolve around strong female protaganists and are cute to boot!
The supernatural battles in both series are similar in nature, with the strange shaped, but simplistic monsters. If you enjoyed the battle scenes in either series, you should definetly give the other one a look!
With her parents dead or missing, Azuma has been taken into her uncle's family. However her new family has been harshly abusing her, to the point she has become so mentally unstable she developed the rare syndrome of Alice in Mirrorland, which makes her see things that shouldn't be there reflected on mirrors, water, glass, etc. Everything begins when the things she sees start affecting the real world directly, and the barrier between reality and illusion breaks apart. Welcome to the world at the other side of the mirror. Welcome to wonderland.

Both of these series revolve around a bunch of nightmarish creatures from another world which try to invade ours, and the small group of people who can fight them. Nobody other than these special people can even see the monsters, though regular people can and do feel the consequences of the attacks. The special fighters in both series suddenly find themselves transported into another realm whenever the monsters attack, and in this realm they have special abilities they use to destroy the monsters. The tone of Sekai Oni is darker while the tone of Yumekui Merry is more hopeful, but otherwise the stories in the two manga are very similar.
On the eve of nobleman Oz Bezarius's fifteenth birthday, he and his loved ones gather to celebrate in a coming-of-age ceremony. But after Oz steps under a long-stopped clock and the hands finally move once more - thus fulfilling a mysterious prophecy - he is violently thrown into the legendary prison known as the Abyss by three cloaked intruders. Existing in another dimension, the Abyss is home to lifeforms born within its walls known as Chains; these beings can only live in the real world if they make contracts with humans, binding their power to the person's body. However, there's a catch - in time, the human will be overcome by the Chain's power and then thrown into the deepest level of the Abyss. When Oz wakes up in the Abyss he is quickly attacked by hungry Chains, only to be saved by one named Alice - a Chain who appeared just before he was thrown into the prison. Together, the two make a contract and return to the real world, where they are enlisted into the Pandora organization - a group researching both the Abyss and the trio that threw Oz into it. Along with members of Pandora, the duo searches to find Alice's lost memory fragments that are scattered throughout the world, to discover the secrets of the Abyss, and to determine if there's a way their contract can be broken without killing either Oz or Alice.

Two of my most favourite manga and actually there is quite a bit similar but I don't want to spoil tooo much, first is that our main male meets a female not from the world that he is in. This idea of creating contracts between these creatures and humans is in both plots and the fact that something bad would happen to the host if their contracted creature were to die or similar, some may just take over the hosts body. Either way, two of my top manga and if you liked one you should enjoy the other xx
