Wicked Trapper: Hunter of Heroes

Echizen is a game designer being ground under the boot of his high-pressure job. His demanding workplace won’t even let him do what he’s best at: building brutal puzzles and traps for players. When he quits his job, something suddenly sucks him into a hellish dungeon in another world. His path collides with the alluring demon princess Sophilia, but before she can explain how or why she’s summoned him, they’re threatened by a party of marauding heroes–and Echizen watches in horror as the “heroes” enact a genocidal massacre on Sophilia’s demon friends. With his life on the line, Echizen uses the world’s magic to put his game developer skills to use in Sophilia’s defense. The deadly traps he creates give the heroes some brutal comeuppance, but the rush of power unlocks Echizen’s most sadistic impulses…leading him down a path he may never be able to turn back from.

Edgy for the sake of being edgy. Ecchi for the sake of being ecchi. That's enough to describe this manga.Typical mc gets isekai into another world but this time on the demon's side. So author had to make humans evil because you can't possibly have nuance in this type of story. MC makes a 180 and ditch his old world without a second thought just because he got fired from his job. Yep, when you get fired you no longer have anything to do so of course you would want to go serve a random demon in another world. From that point forward I will get spoilery. So MC makes a 180 and becomes edgy af. He suddenly feel elated killing humans because they are bad. For someone who worked at a company who made fantasy games him not understanding the balance of such a world is incomprehensible. And then you have the naive and frankly annoying FL who doesn't miss a chance to almost get killed. She's so naive that she thinks that by giving up her body she will save her people. Oh and she also thinks that all her people are good and all humans are evil. You can already guess the type of person she is.I'm writing this afetr reading chapter 8 and the very obvious NTR that happens there was the last straw for me. I can't handle this type of story. I liked that the mc wasn't too op but seeing his girl gets fingered and groped in front of you doesn't sit well with me. The art is decent tho.Anyway I know some people who like edgy stuff like that, for me it's a clear no no.

What a cringey edgelord this author is. Everything is so ridiculous and absurd that the only way I could possibly enjoy it is if I treated it as a parody. But it's not nearly funny enough to be a proper parody (plus I don't actually get parody vibes from most of it, with the dick-swinging in chapter 8 probably being the most parodic moment). The author includes several villains who are absurdly cruel and unempathetic and horny. And there are multiple rape scenes which are included presumably simply because it's edgy to include those types of scenes and the author is just looking to evoke visceral responses in the readers. Some of the sexual moments also feel like the author is trying to be humorous, in an edgy kind of way. I find myself asking: why is this author so obsessed with the idea of women being forced into sexually receptive states and then unwillingly moaning out in pleasure as they are getting raped? That's a very specific kink and I kinda assume that those scenes are just included because of the edginess of misogyny (and the author's gotta hit that edginess quota). Even the moments when the protagonist outwits somebody feel corny and as though they're just feeding the power fantasies of middle school readers or something. And that's the same vibe I get from the protagonist's "dark" and amoral personality--that it's a shallow caricature of an anti-hero meant to resonate with readers who want to see themselves as dark or edgy. No offense meant to any readers who may have enjoyed this manga. You do you. The concept of somebody having the ability to lay traps initially felt like it could have potential, but I think the author largely squandered that potential by wanting to have the protagonist reacting to and directly interacting with feir enemies. The cool part of traps is that they are laid ahead of time and the person laying them was able to predict the actions of others. And while there is a certain amount of this type of planning and predicting, it still occurs within relatively short amounts of time and thus still comes across as more reactive than not. I don't know if there was ever any potential for the romance to be good, especially cause the characters are so far removed from how actual, normal people would act. They are either manga cliches or archetypes or just feeding into the edginess. The manga has gotten worse with each subsequent chapter. As such, I have zero hopes for it doing well in the long-term.
