This was not what I expected it to be. I was hoping for at least a happy, or an okay ending. But no. It just became darker and more depressing as it went on. Karin Tachibana, a high school teacher falls in love with her new student, Satoshi Yuri. And while I am a fan of the whole older woman and younger man genre...this one didn't sit well with me. It was pretty appropriate in the beginning, as Karin became the young Takaichi and developed a close friendship with Satoshi that quickly blossomed into love (for both of them). However, over time the two became more and more obsessed with on another - Karin the most, as she became so possessive of Satoshi that she lashed out over small things and neglected all her responsibilities just after moving in with him. And while Satoshi was the one to begin the sexual relationship with Takaichi, and even planned a future for them to be together forever, it was Takaichi that allowed her obsession to get out of control - so much so that she ended up having a mental breakdown. And that Angel...man, oh man, he may have enjoyed the trauma humans brought on themselves, but he did warn Karin of the consequences and even pointed out all the big mistakes she has made because of her own stupid choices. I can understand that Karin wanted real love in her life, and didn't want others to dictate on how she lives her life...but that doesn't give her the excuser to neglect her responsibilities as an adult, and throw away her future. Also, by the end, it wasn't love that Karin had for Satoshi...it was obsession. And the terrible things that Karin was willing to do in order to not be separated from Satoshi (even if it meant using an innocents man, assaulting a woman, or possibly murdering Satoshi's father) - it got to the point where even Satoshi didn't want anything to do with her.  In the beginning of the last chapter, I was actually hoping that's how it could have ended. Karin revealing the truth to Satoshi, and while he was surprised at first, he did come to understand where Karin was coming from. They kept it secret from the public, studied hard for Satoshi to get into a top university, get a well paying job, and eventually...getting married, and starting a family. The two of them having a life together...that's the ending I would have loved to see. But sadly, that's not the way it ended. Even if Karin ending up dying, she could have gone to a world where she and Satoshi did end up together, did end up getting married, did have kids. But that's just my thoughts on this story.
