Vengeance of the Heavenly Demon

Surprise! Mu Tian Ran has been set up, his martial arts skills crippled at the hands of his own brother. Not only that, he's been rejected by his own family, who tortured him only to finally disown him and throw him out, all because he has the Bloodline of a Slave. At the lowest point of his life, a mysterious man arrives to mentor him and help him develop his own hidden talents. It turns out that his Bloodline, which was so repugnant to mankind, is actually a gift from the Heavens called the "Heavenly Demon Bloodline," making Mu Tian Ran an extremely rare child said to be favored by the gods themselves. As he grows stronger, Mu Tian Ran begins his journey to wreak vengeance on those who had shamed him in the past.

---SPOILERS----The story is nothing amazing, and feel cliche. The main character was born in a decent family but was bullied and ridiculed all his time living there, because they considered him weak, and not meant to be in the family until a certain situation happens and he gets his strength cut because they destroyed his meridians and was about to be sent to a place where he would be killed when his mother begged for him, so he was just expelled from the family but was basically left to die with all his injuries. After a few fateful encounters and lucky situations, he managed to recover his meridians and build his strength and obviously on a path for revenge. Cut short all his travels, by chapter 32~33 he comes back to his family seeking revenge and to know what happened to his mother, he basically breezes through everyone and fights against the patriarch (which is also his father) and beat him. After the fight, his father invites him back to the family because he recognized his strength, and also reveals his mother was sent to a place where he was supposed to be sent and was going to die there, he gets angry, destroys the mansions, houses, a "heavenly weapon" and then leaves. That's where my problem is, he took his revenge in a family that was just about to kill him, and basically left him for dead while cutting all his strength, which he was only saved by his mother, and not by any compassion of the family or his father. After getting the strength to take his revenge, he beat everyone, but he DID NOT KILL anyone, even after learning about his mother, and after he destroyed the mansion and etc, while he is leaving and says he isn't part of the family anymore he just throws enough gold into their faces to buy like 10 houses of the ones he destroyed. Way to lackluster of revenge that could have been made a good character development for the protagonist. The Art of this Manhwa is also pretty lackluster, nothing special, and maybe at most average, but I don't think it's that high.Characters are all simplistic, nothing really special about them. Most are secondary without any flavor into them, and the protagonist doesn't seem to have had a good character development from the beginning, still really naive.

I feel like I have to say it in every review I make but I'm a huge fan of manhua. The thing people hate the most about them is actually what drawn me: the annoying young masters, the random mobs underestimating the MC and the faceslapping that ensues, the "You dare!", the elders, auction houses, etc. Yeah by manhua i mean specifically xanxia stories since that's what most people think about when they talk about manhua. So with that out of the way I have very big tolerance for these stories. unfortunately I also have a limit to how idiotic a plot can be. Here we have the typical revenge story, we all know what to expect. Bullied MC, broken dantian, divine bloodline and fortuitous encounter. Everything is fine but the problem lies with the execution. First of all this MC is not reincarnated, meaning he lacks experience and the author decided to make him act his age. He's a dumb teenager, with no self awareness. I will SPOIL a bit the beginning but you won't lose anything knowing that. The revenge arc which is supposed to be satisfying fell short. It wasn't a real revenge since nobody died and MC even compensated his family for the destruction. In the end he only made them richer. Then comes the plot. Instead of having your typical go on an adventure to explore the world, get strong, maybe go to an academy and stuff we have the MC stuck with his bloodline thing. Now everything revolves around that bloodline and the people who have it. It's not MC's story anymore. You'll feel it as you read that he isn't fully in control of his actions which is supposed to be the main attractive factor with these stories. Seeing an MC take his fate into his own hands is what make these great. Don't even get me started of the annoying "master" he got stuck with as well. The hidden granpa trope is supposed to be with an interesting character not an annoying one. In any case, if you are tolerant with xanxia stories then you might find it enjoyable for a quick read with no investment. if you are picky then skip it.
