Under Grand Hotel - Reviews

Tired of shouta? gender bender? and those same girly uke's and stereotypical seme's? Under grand hotel is as close as you can get to hard hitting reality. I give this manga a 10/10 for everything. i stayed up for a whole night from start to finish and it was worth it!!! it took me a minute to get started on it because i'm not used to getting straight into sexually explcit manga so fast. those scenes will make you steamy but remember this is hard hitting reality. as you read on the intensity never stops rising. here you'll see what actaully happens in jail turned into something of an inspiring story. You'd think when you are put in jail that's it for your game of life. however the characters in this story makes me believe and give them hope and a second chance at life. The story was extremely well put. You have your epilogue/prologue and small side story. after you read the first volume one would think it was over but in the next two volumes many climaxes rise. read this manga to find out the thrilling heart wrenching struggles sword fish and sen owari have to face in under ground hotel. this is one intense manga you would not want to skip. ^_^

p.s. on my response to this manga personally I feel for one scene. what that bastard Travis mutou does to sword fish still makes my heart twist around. This manga has brung tears to my eyes and awakened my inner desire for an islander with cerulean eyes. It's nice to break away from the stereotypical yaoi manga's, and this is the one to read for more satisfaction! ^_^

Now there were literally tons of rape scenes as well over the top cliche steaminess between the two characters (Sword and Sen, including the others) shown in this “prison BL” manga. However I just literally couldn’t drop the manga down because the story just literally made me want to read more and I hardly ever say this when reading a manga full of non consensual scenes! I mean nearly every character is scummy in this including the warden and Sword but again the story got me hooked on making me find out what happens to the characters next. Like the amount of questions in my head were if the men gonna get out of prison together or is one of them gonna stay alive? I was just dying to know!

This manga really was a roller coaster. I had so many different emotions. I feel like this is the best Yaoi manga that I ever laid my eyes on. The ending had me in tears (T-T) LITERALLY!!! There are a lot of twists and turns. You may get confused in the beginning, but trust me you'll understand the further you read it. I just want to give a round of applause for the person who created this masterpiece. Great plot. Great characters. Perfect settings. AMAZING ENDING (T-T). 10/10. Geez, I wish I could express my feelings about this manga to the world. I LOVED IT!! 

Is the art pretty to look at? No. But it's overcompensated for with how GOOD it is. The characters are all deep and fantastic, going through highs and lows both with themselves and each other. It tackles profound themes while remaining funny, balancing light-hearted tones with dark. The author was inspired by an American TV show Oz-- which features life in prison. The author's research on prison shows, and the story remains compelling all throughout.
