This was entertaining for the most part and I generally liked the art and the direction of the plot. The things that make it mediocre are that the politics are convoluted yet shallow and it feels like endless issues out of non-issues. There is also the most important part and that is that the women are supposedly in control of society, taking some sort of twist on the usual medieval style patriarchy where a man is in charge with multiple wives. There are inconsistencies with this notion that kind of annoy me, like other than the queen there doesn't seem to be any elected or unelected females anywhere to be seen during important events. And the king seems to be the main ruler despite the premise. Just rude women being in charge for no reason other than because its the culture. There is no justification since they still command the men to fight their wars for them. Strength is power so if it was a female-dominated society then I would have liked to see female generals and warriors etc. But the women seem pretty rude and lacking in benefits to society despite their cultural control. It could be argued that the author isn't lacking, but that the fictional writer of the game he is inside of is lacking. I still think its lazy writing though. Overall it was a good time with the latter half having a severe dry spell!
Since I read only four books I'm gonna put something in here about them and update it. I actually LOVE this series, It's rerally well written, characters are easily to like and are different. It's the first light novel series I read and I even bought this as a joke because of the title, never tough that this will be my most favorite Light novel series I will have. I read by the time I was investing my time in this series a lot more LN's but this one is just my most favorite. I even bought the other series from the same autor "I'm the evil lord of an intergalactic empire!". I like the humour that is in this series and the way the characters acts. If you watched the anime, and you liked it I recommend you read it. Btw the first series of the anime is the first three books smashed in one 12 episodes anime series. So there is literally like 3% of the books. STORY: - Book 1: Office worker Leon is reincarnated into a particularly punishing dating sim video game, where women reign supreme and only beautiful men have a seat at the table. But Leon has a secret weapon: he remembers everything from his past life, which includes a complete playthrough of the very game in which he is now trapped. Watch Leon spark a revolution to change this new world in order to fulfill his ultimate desire...of living a quiet, easy life in the countryside! - Seven Seas - Book 2: REVOLUTION WAITS FOR NO MAN Leon doesn't want a leading role, not in the kingdom and not in the game. Too bad for him. Between his new promotion and the attentions of protagonist Livia and villainess Angie, no one will leave him alone-least of all the prince and his lordly gang. As Leon struggles for independence, tension grows with his allies. But soon, they'll have to band together to face the greatest danger imaginable, one that threatens to destabilize the game itself. - Seven Seas - Book 3: Leon keeps earning accolades and climbing the social ladder-much to his chagrin. Now other nobles view him as a threat, and his political rivals pull out all the stops to lock him up and throw away the key. But that's just what the Principality of Fanoss wants. With Holfort Kingdom's greatest power behind bars, the Principality launches an unprecedented attack. Now Leon must figure out how to free himself-and whether his country is even worth saving. - Seven Seas - Book 4: Leon heads off to study abroad in the Alzer Republic, accompanied by Marie and the idiot brigade (a.k.a., her love interests). Leon's just praying that Marie keeps her hands to herself-if she meddles in the plot of the sequel, she may force him to save the world. Again. Unfortunately, the original story has already flown off the rails. The new protagonist has a twin sister who wasn't in the game! On top of that, some high and mighty noble's son, backed by the power of Alzer's Holy Tree, is baring his fangs at Leon. If Leon ever wants that quiet country life, he'll have to seize the reins of a whole new story. - Seven Seas ART: In these books there is a lot of pictures and they are really well drew. Actually when I saw how they look in manga compared to them from LN I got kinda dissapointed T_T.
