Let me begin by say screw you Rachel, and I hope you die a miserable death :). I really loved the story of this Manhwa. The world is really interesting, and I was hooked. There were also several interesting characters. I also liked Bam. I love how sweet he is. There were characters I did not necessarily love, but the only one I truly hated was Rachel. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way from the start. I was upset that she had left Bam all alone just because she wanted to chase her dream. She even admited that Bam had always been lonely and that she was his only friend, yet she left him anyway. That made me seriously upset. He had finally had a friend only to be left alone once again. After those last chapters though, I absolutely hate her.

This is just me summing it up for you below.

If this damn webtoon is able to make me drop it not once, but twice. then it's shit. I'm just saying this for the overall first part and the second part of this webtoon. I made it at least up to 40 episodes in season 2. So this is basically a review for season 1 and 40 episodes into season 2.

Mind you, I am a pretty patient person. And mostly everything I read, I think it pretty good. So if it's able to make me, a person with low ass standards. Drop this twice. Then wow.

This is the long version of the review

Story

First Season

First of all, I can't even write this with a straight face. Nor do I know how to explain this shit. For season 1, it's pretty good. I have to admit, although I dropped this series twice. The first season was pretty okay. It was pretty interesting. But Bam was still a bitch.

Second Season

It just goes downhill from now on. The story is too goddamn repetitive from now on. Bam in the second season is basically the Tower of God version of Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul after being tortured.

Basically edgy af. Also, he's such a pussy. Just because this evil organization is somewhat strong, he's going to risk restarting that friendship with the others. Not only that, he's stronger than them. Like I swear to god, you're the mc. So you're op. Just kick their fucking face in.

And also, he's totally underestimating his friends' strength. If you're so GODDAMN worried about them dying. Then reveal yourself and be with them 24/7, you little shit. COugh cough. Sorry for my language but like, oh ho ho. I hate Bam so much.

Art

I honestly would care less about the art if the story is hella good. But, the creator could've at least tried more. Even some 14-year old could've done better than that. And yes, I would care LESS about the damn art style. But that's if the story is GOOD. and this story is shit. at least thats what I think.

Characters

Rachel's a bitch, Bam is a wuss, the extras are mistakes, and besides the others, Aguero, Hatz, Rak, Endorsi, and the lizard girl are pretty aight. But the mc doesn't act like a shonen mc AT ALL. not even close. He's a coward, too damn arrogant, and is a terrible friend. I don't understand what rachel means when she says "star".

Overall

It's just no, don't waste your time.

  (Sorry for any grammar mistake)

Art

Art is a bit bad at Season 1, but improved greatly at Season 2 but somehow the transision or minor things in Season 3 decrease its quality.. maybe because every Author only have 1 week of deadline so that's why I guess the art decrease it's quality although not drastic..

Somehow atmosphere in Tower of God is lacking a soul. I don't know but it feels gloomy to me, the setting is fantasy world but the world is lacking any world building details. For example like all the place we see, we only have empty ally, empty hallways, empty open space, empty sky, even inside airspace its empty without tech and furnitures. I heard by fans this webtoon has a strong point in World Building, but I don't see any good points from it. Compared to another webtoons or some mangas they have detailed drawing so the places looks really alive and lifely.

Character

  MC

I have a mixed feeling about Bam as a main character, I'm actually pretty fine at first in Season 1 and Season 2. But at the end of Season 2, I noticed that he is somewhat a boring character.. he is somewhat like a passive character, it's hard to explain.. it's  similar like he is not a type of person who speaks very much. At first it crossed in my mind maybe he is a bit psyco because his obsession with Rachel, I mean he really chase her down at the end of the world and wants to dragged her down to his cave despite meeting new good friends and somehow endanger them. If he wants something he has to get it.

About MC powers, I really hope he will have a drawback or negative effect from absorbing too many powers. He needs powercheck in Season 3 cause he increased his level abnormally compared to his peers and gain something with minimal efforts.

Side Character

ToG have interesting character but, the downside is it has too many characters... I mean a lot of sidecharacters only introduced for 1 ark, after that,Author kind of ditched them and make us forgot about them. So, many side characters actually don't have any significant role at all it's better if they don't get introduced at all. I currently read at Season 3 and look, I forgot most of Bam's companion because they are left behind and we will never see them again. (Small example. What's up with Anaak revenge right now? Where is she? Ahh what about glassess girl and big guy from Wangnan's team? Are they forgotten? What's about Leeso's old team? Like Verdi or whatever her name is. Why bother introduced them only for 1 ark and then dissapeared??

Because of too many characters, Author also don't have a good time to develop their characters for example like Androssi/Endorsi. She seems important for season 1 but at season 2 she is only for a driver teleporting people around. She is wasted, I heard from spoiler she will have an important role in Zahard's Princesses Ark far in Season 3 but boii it's actually shows us Author have a bad style developing their characters. Another ones when Bam crying hysterically hearing Jinsung Ha is dead I don't feel any emotion at all, that's because we rarely see any interaction from this character so that's why I don't feel the connection.

Story

The story it self is good, I like the concept of survival game in floor test but it's sad we rarely see them anymore. It's focus point now about how to take Zahard down. So floor test and climbing the tower is not important anymore. Ahh using strategy, weapons and items also not important anymore for combat its  quite sad.

I think sometimes Author forget some details, for example like in Season 2 after when Bayrold Yama sent his faithful regular dogs helping Rachel to revive White in Hell Train we don't see any interaction at all between Yama and White 🤔.

Nevertheless its still entertaining story

This manhwa feels like prolog to second seson and having 78 chapters as prolog is too much. But story line as whole is

mysterious and interesting also main characters are interesting so why is it so bad? Well are is terrible for example
there are no details or in one picture some characters have they hair on their back when their fac is facing fron and on second one when theire face is facing to a sied the hair is stil on theire back.
For some reson this manhwa has just too much side characters as part of main character group and there is no way you can remember all of them if you reading it for first time also it feel like autor is using them as pokemons
(if team needs to fly out of nowhere a guy shows up ho can fly).

I recomend trying to get trough first seson becose next one is much better as art story and powerlevel goes up.
Basicly everything gets much better. (review of second seson will be in second seson part)

This is a very good manhwa it has a decent plot with ok drawings, with a different style but I personally feel it's above average. Seeing as how the reader I got combined both this and the "Second Season" into one.

Besides that, this is a tournament-style manhwa that has a familiar feeling to it. Maybe a Yu Yu Hakusho sort-of style. I do like the tournament manga/anime they give the impression of who is the best in that universe then there's that weird guy who never does the contests and can kill everyone. We get the main character, who's a bitch but can learn fast, who has a penchant for power that is unknown to himself. I won't get too far into details that flow into season two. He wants to make the dreams of his "girlfriend" come true, and will do anything to make it happen. I will say the characters aren't new but still cool. The story also loses marks for feeling incomplete. Very worth the read in every sense of the word multiple reads for subtle clue missed on the first read, I don't believe I did, most certainly if you're going to read both seasons together do it. I guarantee it will be worth it.
