The birds and the scenery are very well drawn. The humans, less so. The coloring is generally pleasant, but I didn't like when they just did a patch of a single color as a background for some of the panels. This manga starts out with Asako and Ruri going out at dawn to see some geese, then goes back several months to tell the story of how Asako pressed a shy and somewhat skittish Ruri into joining the birdwatching club. It's part friendship-building slice of life and part instructional guide on the basics of birdwatching, with quite a few beautifully drawn birdies for us readers to gawk at as well. I didn't think the origin story for Ruri's interest in birds was necessary, though I suppose it didn't really hurt (it just felt weird to have an origin story).
