They both are written by the same author, so the drawings/humor would be similar. The stories have there own way of going. In both, the main character undergoes amazing transformations which make you want to see more.

If you are interested in strong female leads, either one of these should be exactly what you're looking for.

Both TCP and SB feature strong female leads that contrast from the typical weak women in manga.  They both have a temper and can kick some major butt.  If you like girl power, try one of these.

daysie1234 daysie1234 says...

Same author, and the characters feel similar. Both of these stories are very fun reads with suspenseful story arcs and love triangles that keep the pages turning! Definite must reads!

Rebkkah Rebkkah says...

Given that they share an author, the art and homour is very similar between these two. Whilst the romance develops in a different way, this aspect is also similar.

The stories themselves are very different with TCP being more of an action story and SB being more of a drama, they still share the underlying theme of a girl striving to find herself while falling for the guy that always seems to be there when she needs him most.

Personally, I love this author and would recommend both of these stories to everyone that enjoys a good romcom.

Tokyo Crazy Paradise and Skip beat are written by the same author. In fact it's interesting to read Skip Beat and then read TCP because you can see how the author's artistic style has changed with time. Both are hysterically funny at times, and have good senses of adventure and an interesting story. Romance is a heavy element in both, but not the sole purpose of the manga. Good mangas, both of them.

FullmetalDragon FullmetalDragon says...

Since both series have the same mangaka, they have extremely similar feels to them, despite the fairly different plots. Still, both feature strong female leads and kinda stoic male characters, who are super adorable together, not that they would ever admit that.

heawritert heawritert says...

Both "Skip Beat" and "Tokyo Crazy Paradise" have strong, unique female leads that go against the typical shoujo main character stereotype. They're both humorous and fun with slow burning romances but both touch on more dramatic topics. There is a common theme of not being able to be with the one you want to be with.

dbthudus dbthudus says...

They are both by the same mangaka and have that same amount of dorkiness that really makes you love the characters.

irb0red irb0red says...

Both series share the same mangaka and feature a strong female lead who goes through serious character development.

This is Almost as good as skip beat. It's really great. It's hilarious, and doesn't leave you feeling like you wasted your time. There's depth to the story, Which is Something I always look for. Great character development, and the romance isn't as slow as skip beats.

Both have to do with a girl hiding her gender, whom is also a body guard. With a strong femal lead. Both have gansters and fighting. If you like one you will like the other.

jumparound jumparound says...

Both have women concealing their gender and acting as male bodyguards in order to survive. Both are quite dramatic and serious and a bit on the mature side especially Tokyo Crazy Paradise. If you liked one you'll most definitely enjoy the other. However, if you have any issues with nudity, then Tokyo Crazy Paradise isn't for you most likely. You see the main character's boobs quite a few times. I guess just to "prove" that they're there...

GoldenAmethyst GoldenAmethyst says...

Each story is focused on the orphan female main characters that have to hide the fact they are girls by pretending to be boys.  The story line for both revolves are around each girl having to  protect someone close to them by being a personal body guard for people that are closely tied to gangs.

Its very dangerous if the fact that they are girls is found out but both girls happen to bery tough as they have been raised to fight and act like boys since childhood.

Simply put if you like the drama, action, and romace of Love in the Mask then you will like the same for Tokyo Crazy Paradise and vice versa, of course.

Again, both mangas feature a more assertive female lead, different from typical romance mangas where women are often portrayed as weak.  Although the context of TCP (yakuza) is very different from KwM (high school), both have a lot to offer in terms of humour, butt kicking, and general girl power.
