The origin of AidaIro’s masterpiece! Toilet-bound Hanako-kun was originally published in Monthly GFantasy as a self-contained short series, and you can read those three chapters here along with AidaIro’s debut work, “The Beloved Living Dead.” Come and see where it all began!

Reading this would be a good way to decide if this series & its art is something you'd be into. Nene is more violent in this which I personally like, she's a bit too sweet in the main series. She's still kind; that's a big part of her character. The short story included is one of the most fucked up things I've ever read
The artwork is very nice. It has a "drawn" quality that gives it a sense of individuality. At times, it can feel a bit simplistic, but it's always very precise and never comes across as generic. It's more like it includes as much detail as needs to be included, and not any more. It's mainly blacks and whites, though there are also some gray screentones sometimes used for shading. I especially like the beautiful close-up eyes--they feel as though they're underwater. The story arc is clear, easy to follow, and engaging. Each chapter includes its own subplot, but together they form a decently moving plotline. We get to know the characters well enough that by the end, you actually feel something for what happens. There are still things about the world and Hanako's situation specifically left unanswered, but it's not as though it gives the impression of leaving things unresolved. Instead, the impression is simply that the world is deeper than what a single story arc can contain. Also, the world and characters end up getting a retelling in the main series, which I assume delves into some of those things more deeply.
Now here is the final grade I give. 10/10 Passed with flying colors! Aida-Iro you broke my heart many times yet I dont hate you because you make such good storyline and characters. Now just incased any anime watchers out there reading this. I just wanna say that I would definitely recommnd this manga. Besides the double personalities of characters are REALLY worth reading. The manga is still ongoing though its coming to its end pretty much soon.
