Even though the new Zaku mobile suits have become the weapon of choice among the Zeon, the 603rd still pushes on with their conventional weapons, from the Battle of the Loum to the first confrontation with Federation GMs. Any of these new weapons could secure victory for the Zeon, but will they be ready in time?

These short stories fill in the background of Yang Wenli prior to the Overture to a New War movie, and continue with the background of Reinhard and Kircheis where Gaiden 1 left off. In these stories, Yang becomes the Hero of El Facile and is given a research investigation of some delicacy, Reinhard's first assignment to a ship at Iserlohn, Reinhard deals with a formal duel among the politics of the nobles, Reinhard's secret mission into Free Planet territory, and the Third Tiamat Battle, wherein Reinhard earns the rank of General at the age of 19.

Imperial Admiral Reinhard von Musell is an ambitious, aspiring young admiral within the Galactic Empire, who has earned the animosity of his peers; they believe that he has reached his position only due to his sister’s influence with Kaiser Goldenbaum, earning him the nickname of "the Admiral under the skirt." Meanwhile, Alliance Commodore Wen-Li Yang, fresh from his heroic victory against overwhelming odds at El Facil, has just been given the unenviable assignment of military advisor to a self-assured superior officer. Both of these Galactic Heroes, on opposite sides of the conflict, face the same task of having to overcome their superiors’ suspicions and win the day at "the 4th Tiamat Battle" of a 150-year-long war.

In the Free Planets Alliance, Wen-Li Yang's friend Jean Robert Lapp intends to propose marriage to their mutual acquaintance, Jessica Edwards. Wen-Li has only just returned home, but his respite will be all too brief: the Alliance soon hears of the intended Imperial invasion, and the man once more finds himself in a fleet headed for combat. The battle of Astate is about to commence...

The final battle between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon approaches as the White Base takes off into space, with Char's Zanzibar in hot pursuit. Amuro encounters a Newtype girl named Lalah Sune; they briefly connect, but soon Amuro discovers that she is linked to Char himself. As the war continues, Amuro realizes that the true evil that must be stopped isn't the Earth Federation or Zeon – it's the Zabi family. Amuro uses his Newtype abilities to go head to head with the Red Comet, but Char also has a mobile suit up his sleeve. Can White Base survive the final days of the war, or will the "white light" eliminate them all?

The assault carrier White Base stumbles onto the mines of M'quve, however Ramba Ral and his team are pursuing them and are not giving up without a fight. Desperately, White Base continues to try to reach Jaburo, the Earth Federation headquarters, only to come across the Black Tri-Star. With no end in sight, Amuro struggles and puts his skills to the test to protect his friends from utter peril.
