A prequel to the story of Skyward Sword, detailing the origin of the relationship between Zelda and Link, Link's relationship to the goddess, Hylia, and the tale of how Skyloft rose into the sky.
A 32-page manga included in Nintendo's official guidebook "Hyrule Historia: Zelda no Densetsu Taizen."
I believe this takes place before the events in any of the Legend of Zelda games and before any of the reincarnations of Link, Zelda, and others. We see the creation of the Master Sword and of the triforce. We see deities and dragons. We see the original Link and the events that led to the cycle of reincarnations. As fans of the game lore know, the games take place over a span of centuries and millennia and even alternate timelines and involve many incarnations of Link. So, purely from a lore perspective, this manga is pretty neat. But, honestly, that "neat"-ness doesn't rise to the level of being captivating (at least not to me). And the story feels a bit rushed and jumbled, heavily leaning on readers already being familiar with some of the basic knowledge. Also, after I was done reading, I couldn't help but feel that Link's courage and willingness to fight didn't seem deserving of such over-the-top reactions from the goddess and such unwavering loyalty from the bird. Maybe if the fight wasn't condensed down to a few sparse panels (the rushed issue again), I might have found that aspect more impressive.
