Serving you up something different by the creators of Food Wars. Hajime is obsessed with movies and wants to make his own - and finally gets the push he needs from ghostly writer Takihiko Tenmaku.  If you're a fan of Bakuman, this series should tickle your fancy. It's a short one at 21 chapters, fairly easy to read. Artwork is pretty nice. The characters were decent overall but nothing radically memorable for me.  The story sets itself up fairly well and is fun. It seems as though it did fairly poorly in rankings unfortunately and likely got cut from Shounen Jump, one would hazard a guess at. Thankfully the story does conclude nicely and completes all the goals it set out to do - no radical twists or cliffhangers at the end. It's a short and overall fun read - if things like Bakuman and Shirobako are your cup of tea, this isn't quite at their level but will scratch the itch for a little more behind the making of content.

What an absolute gem. I've always loved stories that had to do with the process of making stories, or art in general. Like Bakuman, Tick, Tick...BOOM!, and others that I can't think of right now. As someone who wants to create stories they're always so fascinating to me and Tenmaku Cinema was no different. I loved seeing Hajime and his friends just making a movie and seeing the creative process and learning more about movies. The passion for movies is so palpable that it just puts a smile on my face. I don't know if this series was cancelled or not but from the sorta rushed ending it feels like it probably was. I would've loved to see Hajime and Tenmaku go on to make more movies together. It could've been Jump's new Bakuman but I'm happy we got this series in the first place.
