July 1999, the month the world ends according to Nostradamus. Middle school boy Hajime always scores second place against his elementary school rival, the beautiful girl Sawatari. He is also an avid "Magic: The Gathering" player. While looking for new cards in the neighboring town he finds out that Sawatari plays MTG too, but in secret. She runs away though after recognizing him during a one-on-one card game. The next day he challenges her to a duel, with a special card deck crafted against hers, promising to keep his mouth shut and do anything she says if he looses. One thing leads to another and they finally become friends...
This story is not complete, but I will go ahead and leave an impression for those thinking of reading this. Art is alright gives a lot of shounen vibes. I'll give an average 7/10. On to the characters, they are pretty surface level. The characters they have are pretty standard cut outs of what you expect in a highschool manga. Expect misunderstandings and all the lovely nonsense of highschool drama. MC does kind of tick me off sometimes, probably because he reminds me of hero academia mc. (6/10 on characters). I can't rate the story yet since it is not done. Now, I'm sure people reading this review are like, "you bashed the story why are you reading it?". Well to be frank, I merely read this mediocre tale for The Magic The Gathering TCG. It is a prominent feature and probably the reason why most people are reading this manga in the first place. If you enjoy playing the game hop on.
