Starting With a Lie - Reviews

Ahhh, this story has me so conflicted. On one hand it was really adorable and I loved all the fluff. On the other hand it's way to dragged out and the fakeness of it really set me off at times. I was ok with the two main characters lying to each other to get closer thing because thats the whole plot and message. I liked watching there slow burn until the end where it felt a bit drawn out. 

But the side couple was actually what really made me upset. The blue haired guy didn't just lie he completely pretended to be a different person and I found their relationship to be very disingenuous. SPOILER: when it's reveled at the end that it was all for nothing too, I just felt so brain dead. What was it all for? Their story felt pointless and I kind of hated it. It really took away from the whole experience of the main couple 😕 

The art is good, but I feel the storyline is almost a little too basic. it leans heavily on the trope of thinking the person is into someone else even though its insanely easy to see they're completely into each other. Also fake dating is cute but the characters are a little too dense. There’s also not much development because the leads are already best friends.

If you're in the mood for very little angst and characters who liked each other from the very beginning, then this is a very sweet read. I liked the author's other series All Of You a little more, and the art style is the same. 

A fan of friends to lovers, fake dating and the perfect amount of angst? I think you would enjoy this~

Let me just first say how adorable this manhua's art style was because it was definitely one of the components that made me want to keep reading!

The pacing for this was really good considering the amount of chapters which made engagement pretty high. I adored all the characters in here like, there wasn't one that irked me and i have my favourite moments with each one of them and I didn't want to leave them =(

This story had a good theme and it really shows throughout the chapters where with each lie, it was like a reminder to us with how much it impacted the liar and the receiver of their words. I really applaud the author for being able to apply it well.

Lin Hang and Qiu Tian are the best supporters by the way </3 And definitely the cutest side couple ;)

Ah, this was a very cute and fluffy manga. The story wasn't much and often seemed repetitive but the art and characters made up for it <33 I absolutely adored the art style, it suited the story and made it an easy read. I loved both, the main couple and sidle couple very much. It's definitely worth a read!

Oh my god thsi was absolutely amazing also it was no where near fetishy to gay relationships like I see in most manhuas like it was so good and portrayed being gay and liking someone rlly well and just like what it's like. The romance was so cute the main and side couple was both great the story was perfect it made u laugh it was cute and it made you sad it was so incredible I loved it I don't care what anyone says this is one of the best I've read.
