Both mangas are based on the story of senior highschool basketball teams, and their way to the top of Japan.

Kuroko no Basket (KnB) and Slam Dunk (SD) are similar in several aspects, such as main characters. Sakuragi is playing same position, as Kagami. Both of them are similarly looking, their main power is their jumping, both are quite stupid, thus making funny scenes throughtout the series.

Many KnB's characters have some "unique" powers, which are brilliantly handed, since they are all based on reality (even thought exaggerated little bit). SD lacks something like this.

Since KnB is much newer than SD, I would say that its better in many things than SD, KnB's story isnt as slow-paced as SD's, which makes it more interesting.

Overall, both series are excellent. If you liked one, you will liked the other one as well.

To put it simply - Mr. Fullswing is refreshed, baseball version of Slam Dunk. Both are comedy sports mangas, with arrogant main character. The protagonist decides to join a sport club, since he have fallen in love with manager. Even though he knows nothing about the sport, his raw power makes him potentially a great player.

While Mr.Fullswing sometimes have too many gags (to a point, that it gets tiresome ) both mangas are amusing sport stories. If you like one, you should give the other one a try too.

Fight no Akatsuki

Fight no Akatsuki

Akatsuki and his good friend Kiyoharu (whom Akatsuki calls Kiyo-chan) have been playing one-on-one basketball for quite sometime. Unfortunately, things started to change after they joined a very strong basketball team in their new school. Both of them were forced to separate into two groups: Kiyoharu was in the "B" group, and poor Akatsuki was put under "F" group, which is known as the "Failure" group. However, Akatsuki was not discouraged at all. He continues to train hard and always has a smile on his face. Will Akatsuki succeed in his promise to Kiyoharu to become an official player? And what is blocking the path to his goal?

For fans of basketball mangas, these two are a must read.  Slam Dunk is more of a classic treasure while Akatsuki is somewhat new.  Both offer amazing effort put in by the characters in their quest to be recognized by their surroundings.  Excellent reads and not to be missed for a basketball fan.

Both of these manga are about a guy who joins a sports team to impress a girl. Both guys are very similar; they are over-energetic and determined when it comes to impressing their crush, but always fall short even when they excel in their sports.

Real

Real

Tomomi is a high school dropout who was tragically responsible for crippling a beautiful girl he had just met; Kiyoharu is an ex track star whose bone cancer confined him to a wheelchair as a child; and Takahashi is newly handicapped due to an accident on his bike, stripping him as captain of the basketball team and his status as the alpha male of his gang of friends. Each of these young men shares something in common – their love for basketball. Though society may look down on them, these new friends will come to terms with themselves and their situations, and show their love of the game.

These mangas both portray basketball as intense, exciting, being written and drawn by the same mangaka, they share the same kind of comedy and art (though Real is by far superiorly drawn), They have very different feelings.

Slam Dunk is about a passionate, young delinquent who falls in love with basket and shares an amazing time with his high school mates. Real however follows a another basket ball delinquent who meets a handicap basketball player who moves like the wind.

If you like sports manga, these are probably the best, both of shounen and seinen.

If you loved Slam Dunk because of Sakuragi then you will love Ping Pong Dash! for Haruku.

Both would not win a cup in an IQ test, but they win all hearts by fighting hard for their Dreams.

In both cases I really loved how they have "outgrown" of their simple Yankee-Live by working hard and still remained true to themselves.#yankeesforlive <3
