Shiver: Junji Ito Selected Stories

I don’t usually read short story collections since they don’t always have the best endings but when it comes to Junji Ito, you know what you’re expecting but you would still be creeped out regardless lol. I liked all the stories like they were a good mix of “villains” such as the face suicide balloons, the creepy model monster, the caterpillar of descendants from the same family, a “holes” disease from a supposed doctor, a painter on the brink of killing Tomie, a record playing an odd ska song and greased curse family. It’s also nice to see Itos commentary at the end of each chapter to give his take on why he created those types of stories in the first place. He even shows his first sketches of that particular story as well so yeah it really blended in with his drawings and turned into a unique direction to what he intended originally. It’s definitely worth the read especially since Halloween is starting up soon!
