Think Megamind meets Power Rangers. The weekly Sunday Battles between the Dragon Keepers and the villains are just a farce, a charade. The heroes have Divine Tools that are the only thing capable of killing the otherwise immortal villains. And over a decade ago they had killed off all the enemy leaders, leaving only the foot soldiers behind. They force the foot soldiers to comply and to go through with the charade of attacking them every Sunday, shapeshifting into new villainous forms for the entertainment of the masses (though the masses somehow assume the fights are all real). The Dragon Keepers are the actual villains of the story, shown to be cruel and manipulative, and the protagonist is Foot Soldier D. D has decided to do whatever fe can--infiltration, faking feir death, and so on--in order to try to steal the Divine Tools and actually fight against the Dragon Keepers. Fe makes use of feir shapeshifting ability and feir immortive ability to regenerate. Fe does gain a few human allies as well, and those are some pretty neat interactions. Currently, the story isn't super amazing or anything, but I do think it's a sorta cute premise that allows for a variety of fights and tactics. The art is great. [Reviewed at chapter 10]
