In the year 2058, mankind is about to take its first leap into the distant reaches of space. Using the resources at the tail end of a comet, massive spaceships will be sent to the corners of the universe in an attempt to colonize other worlds, but due to the length of time it will take to arrive at even the closest solar system, the comets must be destroyed in-flight, resulting in super-fast speeds that will kill any life onboard; only frozen sperm and eggs, and machines will survive the journey. Carrying the unborn children of the Robinsons, the first of these ships must now set forth to Ozma; and with its precious cargo is coupled the hopes and fears of all humanity.
In the year 2071, the world's energy problems seem solved by a network of cross-dimensional electric-field inductors- "coils" -that extract energy from a seemingly infinite source. That source is the W dimension, a fourth plane that exists beyond the X, Y, and Z dimensions. In this world, unofficial "illegal" coils harness powers that the police can't hope to counter. Dealing with these coils is the job of coil-hating repo man Kyoma, whose run-in with the unique coil android Mira leads the two to form a reluctant partnership.
On the hunt for new resources, humans have made great strides in conquering parts of the galaxy. But no matter how advanced the technology, our mistrustful human natures come back to haunt us. On a space station orbiting earth, old wars threaten a project to bring new energy resources to the people, while on a newly-discovered planet the colonies of Eurasia and America-Europe seem incapable of working together to help each other survive. Can the ordinary people caught in the middle of these clashes of civilisations resist the tide of hate and show a new way for humanity to move forward into a peaceful future?
