Say I Love You.

Mei Tachibana has no friends—and she doesn't need them! Ever since her "friends" betrayed her in elementary school, she's sworn off friendship entirely. All it leads to is betrayal and heartbreak, and she's well enough on her own. But everything changes when she accidentally roundhouse kicks the most popular boy in school! However, Yamato Kurosawa isn't angry in the slightest—in fact, he thinks his ordinary life could use an unusual girl like Mei! He won't take no for an answer, and soon Mei and Yamato embark on an unwanted friendship that will change both of them forever.

I really enjoyed this manga. It was just so gosh darn realistic about life and love and what high schoolers growing up and graduating experience. This manga resonates with me deeply as I am basically mei, like from the short hair growing long and dating in high school and everything (except the dumb backstory). I'm not married or live with my boyfriend but my god those are goals. But in all seriousness the way love is protrayed in this manga is amazing. It is something you have to work for 100%. When life gets busy and you hang out with other people more then your significant other its get difficult for realz. I went through the same thing. Wondering if staying with current boyfriend was worth it. If we'd find love in different places and if fighting to stay together was the path I was ready to embark on. I met other people and cared for those other people. Its so easy to develop that feeling of 'liking' or 'crushing' on someone. But love and commitment are way harder and require way more work and its so well executed in this manga its ridiculous. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 6 years now. I choose to stay because at the end of the day there was that one truth, I love him. Even if I find someone else attractive or get to know somebody else really well that I can imagine dating them, I still love who I'm with and I don't want to lose him. Its up to you to make that decision and make your own happiness <3. This manga is far more superior than the anime for not only its continuation but its protrayal of the characters is better. Like in the anime I felt Yamato was just too perfect, but here he is crass and sweet and imperfect. This manga is amazing; if you want the real world and real lessons in love and friendship, this is the perfect place for that.
