Strike the Blood

Strike the Blood

300 km south of Tokyo lies Itogami Island - a man-made landmass that’s been authorized by the government to house spirits, vampires, mermaids, and other magical beings who’ve been pushed to the brink of extinction. Kojou Akatsuki is one such resident who used to be a typical high school boy, until an incident 3 months ago turned him into the Fourth Progenitor - a powerful vampire - against his will. And while he’d rather stay an anonymous teenager, things change when Yukina, a sword shaman from an anti-terrorism agency, arrives with intentions to watch over and potentially eliminate Kojou...

Epimondas Epimondas says...

Strike the Blood Anime is closer to the manga "Rosario Vampire" than the anime "Rosario Vampire" is.  It has the same modest but steady build up; the gradual changes to characters; the same kind of accident or reluctance how the main character got into the situations he finds himself in; the same level of fear and great power in one or more characters in both animes; the same unncessary frivolous harem overtones; both have a main character that looks good on the surface though is flooded in a kind of haremesque perversion and/or non commital stance to favor any one girl strongly enough to prevent it; unlike the Rosario Anime, characters in the Rosario Manga and Strike the Blood anime aren't useless nor are the story arcs constantly repetitive; the cast face constant challenges and threats from powerful enemies; the bulk of the story takes place in an environment unique to and full of monsters; and there are other similarities hard to say without revealing too much about the anime Strike or the manga Rosario.

Epimondas Epimondas says...

The manga is even more like the Dance in the Vampire Bund than the Rosario anime because Tsukune tries to protect Moka much more often and eventually develops some skills of his own to increase his chances and ability to do so.  Once again both Moka and Mina transform into older more mature body versions of themselves whenever their true power is awakened.  Both are high ranked nobles with greater power than not only the average vampire but the average noble vampire.  Both Moka and Mina fall in love with non vampires which causes some discord among their vampire kin.

Epimondas Epimondas says...

Both stories follow a similar pattern though in Rosario the war is more against certain subfactions of humans or monsters who don't want peace and work in secret under the radar to sabotage all attempts at peaceful coexistance.  The heroes in both stories meet a girl and make a connection.  The girl is a member of the opposite faction or species to the human male hero.  The reasons the hero winds up closer to the heroine are the same after the male hero in both stories life is in danger, that connection increases sharply.

Reasons you might like Utawarerumono: The False Faces...

Epimondas Epimondas says...

Utawarerumono and Rosario have similar story pacing, cross genre appeal, and both main character start out as essentially the weakest on the planet who are then rescued by a girl.  Both lead characters end up much different then how they started by the end of their stories.  Tsukune and Haku struggle to find their place in their respective worlds but through choices beyond even their own control they both grow as characters and both become something more capable of handling their environments.

Epimondas Epimondas says...

Rosario and Danmachi mirror each other pretty closely.  Both Tsukune and Bell enter a world they are unprepared for filled with danger and monsters.  Tsukune and Bell essentially start off their stories being rescued by a powerful girl.  Through destiny Tsukune and Bell grow as characters and gain their own abilities that help them cope with their situations and environments better and better.  Bell and Tsukune both have a habit of turning many foes to friends.  They both suffer disbelief that either belongs where they are by many doubters and those more experienced then they are.  Yet both are constantly tossed into situations that force them to change and improve til they are better at dealing with their situations whether they want to or not.

This is a stimulating and heartful school demi-human comedy featuring those very unique "demis" and a high school teacher named Takahashi Tetsuo, who's highly interested in learning more about their daily lives and habits.

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou

When a hapless human teenager named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a "volunteer" into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu's job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life. Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. Even worse, when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in, what's a full-blooded teenage human with raging hormones to do?
