Reverend Insanity (Novel) - Reviews

In my previous review I gave it a 6 after reading about 300 chapters. Now after reading exactly 2217 chapters I give it a 9. This novel feels like a rollercoaster because your mood will sometimes agree or disagree, be happy or sad, want to punch the author or hug him, it's really an all encompassing story. This is the best and most complete webnovel I've ever read. When you read it you'll feel that the author knows their stuff and has done a lot of research.

The world is well explained, the rules and power levels are clearly defined and the characters are well developed. I'd say aside for the minor ones who do petty things the others have genuine interesting development. The mc is ruthless to the core and borderline psychopath. He does things for himself and only what brings him the greatest benefits. He isn't even an anti hero, he doesn't care about being heroic, he just does what needs to get done. Don't read it if you have a faint heart cause you might end up hating him. 

What made me change my review was the quality of the writing. I swear I've rarely read such a well written story. When every little clue, every single thing that was randomly mentioned fall in place your mind just goes WOW. And also I don't know if it's a specific of the Chinese language but the way the story is told sometimes feels like a very big poem and it's beautiful. You read something that seems simple at first but when you re-read it you ponder on it for some times. Frankly the translator is a genius. I don't know how they managed to convey the feelings of the author and the characters so well.

I won't go into details about the story because this novel is a life journey and telling you what to expect will spoil the fun. All I can say is that everyone should read this novel at least once in their life. 

Reverend Insanity is a great novel. I will say that is is divided into books which are still not fully translated. Currently there are about 1550 chapters translated in english (there is a google translate version of all of the chapters but its pure comedy as you may imagine). Book 1 - 1-200, Book 2 - 201-405, Book 3 - 406-600, Book 4 - 601-1025, Book 5 - 1026-1950, Book 6 - 1952+. I also want to clarify that the novel is still coming out. 

Now to start with the novel itself. The protagonis - Fang Yuan has lived on earth until around 15 when he is transpoted into the cultivation world. He than spends 500 years roaming this enroums and cruel world of fierce competition. Eveyone and everything struggles for survival. After getting a certain gu worm he travels back in time to the point when he was still around 15 in the cultivation world - this is where the novel starts. Fang Yuan has knowladge of the future and determination to achieve the ultimate goal - immortality. Now this is where it gets interesing - he is actually an evil mc. This is something that really grabbed my attention. And he is not evil simply for the sake of it. The MC doesn`t go out of his way to trouble others. But if interests are involved he will not stop before anything and anyone. The novel goes quite deep in his view of the cultivation world as well as the world itself. This is the next point that amazed me. The world building in this novel is next level. Everything that happends has a great reason to happen. Everything is logical. You can predict certain things and you can speculate about many, many things in the world. The power system is outstanding. You have 9 ranks and there are gu worms which have special abilities and they also have ranks. You have to collect, nurture, refine and use gu, and each step has countless aspects meaning that the more wise you are the better chances you have. This brings me to the next point - everyone who is successful in this world has to have both the brains and the brawl in order to be successful. This in turn means that schemes and politics are extremely interesting. 

All in all the best novel you can read in my opinion. Yeah it`s true that no everybody is going to like it but i think it still deserves a try. See for youself and deep into the mysterious and profound world of Reverand Insanity.

I don't think I need to say a lot about the story isn't for everyone. The mc is 100% pure evil that would kill clans or destroy the world if he needs to.

This novel was the reason I got into novels in the first place.

         ( came for banned novel it was satisfied read even tho it is' "not completed story"in a way story was not about how it ends it all about how journey is.

This types of story's in a way are always extended to infinity in a way I like that also......

This is the best novel I ever read. 

All I can say is once you read this novel you will feel all other novels are written by children. If you have plans to read any novels you should read them before reading this novel otherwise you won't be able to enjoy them.
