I like to describe myself as Isekai trash, so no one will be surprised when I recommend stuff like this. However, I do have standards. Or so I tell myself anyway.

Reincarnated as a Sword is good. It's not exactly subversive...but it's not standard either. While the main character (the sword) is a bit OP, it's never (at least so far) to the point where they completely overpower their opponents with ease (unless they are literal trash mobs). In this book at least, they actually had to use strategy in order to fight their opponent, which was refreshing, to say the least.

The characters are also simple, but effective. Charming would be the word I would use. I really love the relationship between the sword and his weilder, where it's like a parent looking after a child. Except the parent is a literal sword.

All in all, a decent, solid book. It's not revolutionary, but it's not stock standard either. Isekai trash like me will love it, but I also think there is something for people that don't usually read Isekai. Give it a go, see what you think.

Summary: It is a tolerable read. Probably best as a read for children or teens.

____

Awesome premise, but the story could be a lot better than it is. The first quarter of the first book is just the MC murder-hoboing around and gaining new "skills" before he even meets anyone to talk to. It was pretty boring at this part because it is literally just a list of fight scenes and a list of the new abilities he was getting over and over and over and over again. About half of the text is made up of this setting's technobabble. The first quarter of the book was definatly the hardest to get through due to the repititious fight scenes and technobabble.

The setting and characters are pretty shallow and simple. There isn't any intrigue in the story. The MC is a perverted nerd character that likes to make references to pop culture through qoting things. His partner is a little catgirl who doesn't yet have a real personality and just plays off the MCs dialogue for comedic effect or to make the MC sound smart. On the positive side she also brings in the only goal in the story, so far, to bring a bit of purpose to their wanton murder-hoboism.

The best demographics for this book are probably late children to mid teens.

=========================================

This story has a decent amount of world building, and starts with the MC (A sword) setting up how he functions, and how the skill and magic system in the world works, but it tapers off to just being a stardard novel without many stat dumps after awhile.

The MC and the heroine have a very wholesome relationship that is fun to watch (And cute), the pacing is on the slower side but events actually happen, new people are interesting, and freindships feel realistic, the people dont feel like 2d cuttouts of personality (for the most part) and (most) of the arcs are very entertaining, the fight scene descriptions are nice, not overly long or overly short, i can actually picture them in my head and imagine the flow but they dont go on for 15 pages.

Without going into spoilers Fran and teachers adventures ramp up in sane ways, we dont instantly power creep into oblivion, but we also dont stay in the low end of the power scaling forever either, arcs in general feel satisfying, and even the one i didnt like wasn't bad, just did go quite where i wanted it too.

If you want OP mains obliterating everything with no effort and characters and relationships who never evolve (ala something like Smartphone, or Death march) this might not be for you for you (pls im not flaming those), if i were to try and pin down the tone i feel as though it might have the atmosphere most of the time of something like kuma bear but switches gears into pretty violent fights when the action starts.
