This oneshot is recreating the fight which is portrayed in chapters 410-412 in the original One Piece manga, with a scene from chapter 399 also included. I have to assume that Boichi decided to redraw this particular fight because fe's skilled at drawing cleavage and sexy curves. And honestly, the female form when drawn by Boichi is more tantalizing than when drawn by Oda. Though I will say that neither Boichi nor Oda are very good at drawing cute faces on women (with Oda's faces looking kinda rigid and Boichi's faces looking like sex dolls or something). I also personally preferred how contorted the various Nami mirages were in Oda's version of the Fata Morgana technique, with the wide-jawed Nami being especially cool. Boichi, in contrast, seemed to be trying to make all the versions of Nami still look relatively normal and/or cute, even if they had different body types. Some of Boichi's semi-realism also looks awkward, like when the tiny Nami is running away. The climactic shot of Nami is absolutely gorgeous and epic-looking. I appreciate Boichi's choice to include some decorative arches and flowers in the background. And those types of decorative, tile-like designs in several of the panel backgrounds in those final few pages were all great aesthetic choices. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the one panel with Kalifa sensually dripping blood into Nami's mouth, but even that did look a lot cooler than Oda's version.
