Yiyoung is building a startup with his college friends. They get a chance to present their proposal to SJ Corporation, one of the leading companies in the country. But in the meeting room he sees Kang Daehyung, the extremely handsome company big shot that's so very much his type, and Yiyoung's heart starts to race...! Can pretty-faced Yiyoung win both in love and his career?
This webtoon is really amazing so far. I have reread it 6 or 7 times over the course of its syndication. I can't wait to see what happens next! Reading the scenes between Mr. Ahn and Director Kang really are relatable for anyone who's ever had a crush on someone they felt was outside of their league. The love scenes are also very well done and aren't rushed. Definitely recommend this for anyone who loves yaoi! You'll leave with a crush on both guys.
I just read the last chapter of this and it solidified On Or Off as one of my favourite BLs. This is a SPOILER FREE review. The story is about a college student named Yiyoung who is making a start up company with his friends. As their first project, they apply to a company seeking a creative advertisement to appeal to younger people. Yiyoung is the one extrovert of the group, so he's the one responsible for giving the proposal presentation to the company's board of directors. Unfortunately, his laptop betrays him and updates during his timeslot, causing him to lose the opportunity. Yiyoung is determined to get a second chance, so when he coincidentally meets Director Kang Daehyung in a bar, he begs him to listen to the proposal. Director Kang, who just got broken up with, assumes Yiyoung is there to persuade him to accept the proposal with a sexual favour. Though it wasn't Yiyoung's intention, he ends up sleeping with Director Kang. After, when director Kang returns to his office and sees Yiyoungs proposal, he realizes it's actually amazing and he hires Yiyoung's company. Though their relationship begins with a misunderstanding, the two characters gradually learn about each other and they grow closer and closer... I especially love this story because the relationship between Yiyoung and Director Kang is healthy and built on mutual respect. They have their dramatic miscommuniactions but actually talk about their feelings. I really like how the author shows how they both simp for each other. I read the mature version of the story and I can say that the sex scenes were mind-numbingly good. They feel so intimate and romantic. There is also a fair share of comedy, from the main couple and the supporting cast. Overall, the story is well-crafted. It has its heavy and dramatic moments but remains lighthearted and wholesome. I definately reccommend it! There are 91 chapters in the Mature version. I read it on Tappytoon.
On or Off. Where do I begin... This is my favorite series, I don't know if my review can do it respect! Great pacing and character feel, unique art, and a fun story to follow overall. Written humanlike, with a great care for everyone's personalities. Good humor and funny references that don't feel annoying. ALL of the cast is entertaining, I don't think there's a single character here I disliked. Love that the heavily masc-coded character actually takes responsibility for his actions and doesn't drop the difficult conversations, love that this never ever felt like it came from a fetishistic lense. Erotic scenes placed with thought and not just tossed in for a quick "here, xxx since you want it so bad" treatment. (Sorry to jump in with a random take, but I hate when some longer series are just CHOCK FULL of these scenes but don't move the story along? Just make a oneshot.) Plus one AND a brownie for featuring an openly bisexual character who ADMITS they are bisexual; as someone who is bi, I'm a little biased (lol) but I feel like I just never see representation for my community so blatantly spoken like that. I hate manga that are all "I'm not gay. I'm only gay for YOU I'd be straight if you didn't fuck up my plans" and never address the possibility of a character realizing their bisexuality. Thanks a million to the author! It makes my day. Also go pick up the physicals since they're out in the US now... And read the currently updating sequel!
