Honestly, I really enjoyed this series, at least, the first volume. I'm currently caught up to volume 3, so here's my view of it.

So, time to start with the pros of this series.

I love darker themed stories and light novels, since good ones are rare to find, especially one that deals with someone who is part of the LGBQ community. I loved the way Milkit and Flum slowly fell for each other and how they try to survive as they attempt to live out their lives normally, as freed slaves in a cruel world.

The art in each volume was pretty nice, as the color pages are great and I like the drawings inside the novels. They were nice to look at.

Now, the cons. Man, and here we go. There was a lot I didn't like about this series.

Yes, I thought it definitely had some at least decent and somewhat notable characters with interesting backstories, but it still seems like the characters you'd find easily in other books of similar genres. Could say none of them really stood out to me. You could have described the character and I could easily think of multiple other characters.

The most notable thing I hated about Roll Over and Die were the villians. They weren't even WORTH remembering. One after another, our heroine just gains new skills to handle those new foes, without too much of a struggle, and it's a repeating pattern. New villian, losing battle, gains a new skill or strength, and defeats the villain. That's it.

Not only that, but all the villains are straight up bland.

Like, really really bland. Straight up cut outs of the word "villian". I could barely tell them apart because they almost all acted the same - having some reason to fight Flum, and being arrogant and cocky. If you told me it was all the same villains switching bodies, I would have believed it.

I also did enjoy the romance blooming between our main couple, however the romance went sooooo slow between them. Sure, both Milkit and Flum are going through multiple battles and journeys, but there are so many scenes of them getting close with one another and slowly delving into their feelings. At this rate though, it's going to take an eternity for them to even actually begin their "relationship" as by volume 3, they still aren't sure what to call it.

Another thing that really really bothered me was the supposed new couple, again, in volume 3. Eterna, a witch who is about 50 years old, seems to be getting romantically close to Ink, a child who is like 10 years old. Sure, I don't mind age gaps, but a FULL GROWN ADULT being shipped with a CHILD? And not just a child, a YOUNG child. Honestly, after volume 1, I think this story just kind of goes downhill.

It had a intriguing plot and main characters in the start, but now it just seems boring. I don't even want to bother finishing this series.

4/10 story
