After getting her home and figuring out how to activate her, even the computer-illiterate Hideki realizes there is something unusual when it appears she can only say one word - Chii. Two stories, similar yet vastly different in the end. A lonly, down on his luck student, meets a pretty girl, and they work to be together. Each is diffrent but both give accidental romance a new light.

nihonotaku nihonotaku says...

Both series are (at least in the beginning) about a college-age guy who accidentally gets a non-human girlfriend. Both also have the same general romantic comedy feel.

Ah! My Goddess and Mamotte Shugogetten are almost a reflection of each other, in both plot and characters.

While Ah! My Goddess follows the antics of an older male with a sudden girlfriend (in this case the Goddess Bell-Dandy), Shao follows a similar plot only involving a high schooler. Both follow the attempts of the protagonist to get used to the increasingly strange and odd occurrences that come from having a paranormal creature living with them, while their new girlfriends struggle to adapt, conform, and remain "normal" to stay with the boy the fell in on.

While not every plot point is identical, they both feature the romantic rivals in each direction, coming to terms with their feelings for one another, and the general light-hearted content of both series'.

Both series follow similar plot points and structures. The main character ends up living with a diety, and the story bases around their life with that being. Other goddesses and dieties, both good and nefarious are introduced in both stories to drive action and drama, and both manga share a very similar atmosphere.

A.I. Love You

A.I. Love You

Hitoshi Kobe is pretty dumb, not good at sports, and extremely unpopular. The only thing he IS good at really is creating artificial intelligence programs on his computer. His greatest work is number 30, one which very accurately simulates talking to an actual girl. One dark and stormy night, a freak lightning strike causes number Thirty to emerge from his computer screen as a real girl, and sends Hitoshi's life on a turn for the crazy.

A similar story structure. A non-popular boy who is lonely and conviently has his house to himself, gets a girlfriend not early. (In A.I. the girls are compter programs, and O.M.G. they are goddess). The romance, and how the relationship between the protaganist and the main girlfriend is really the same. However A.I. does have its own unioque values, ts funny, romantic and an all around good read if this sorta thing catches your eye. If you like one you'll enjoy the other

Several of the characters are very similar to ones in the other series, the action/comedy nature of both is the same, as is their largely episodic nature. Not surprising since both series were created by the same person. Nonetheless, if you enjoyed one you'll also enjoy the other.

Momoiro Sabbath

Momoiro Sabbath

Kagome is a low level witch with enormous strength. She has for mission to kill Tamakichi, a high school student with a demon soul, and a very unlucky boy. Fortunately she doesn't succeed, begins to like him and becomes his bodyguard instead. Other witches with more magical power also have an interest for Tamakichi, i.e. they want to mate with him because they believe their magical powers will increase when succeeding. This is something Kagome doesn't like of course.

In both series the protagonist is blessed with terrible luck, but fortunately for him, his new supernatural girlfriend (who popped out of nowhere) decided to protect him from his misfortune. Momoiro Sabbath is like a cousin of Ah! My Goddess except goddesses, got replaced with witches in that series. Anyway if you liked on of these series, odds are, you'll like the other one as well. Just keep in mind that Momoiro Sabbath i more wacky.

I feel like the tone of these 2 series is quite different - AMG is quite solidly shounen while Wish is more neutral. But they both involve a not-quite-human female coming to Earth to help a lonely young man, and they both involve elements of fantasy. They are similar enough that someone who likes one of them should seriously check out the other.
