Nothing can surpass the terror of the human psyche. "Mine has been a life of much shame. I can’t even guess myself what it must be to live the life of a human being." Plagued by a maddening anxiety, the terrible disconnect between his own concept of happiness and the joy of the rest of the world, Yozo Oba plays the clown in his dissolute life, holding up a mask for those around him as he spirals ever downward, locked arm-in-arm with death.
Although this story is quite horrifying i find it intriguing. I would love to not give it a full rated star since it's quite a traumatic read and left me speecless, but this is a masterpiece. It's genius. Such perspective of a human life could only leave me breathless. I found comfort in reading it, while it was quite difficult to read. Originally i wanted to read the novel but since i couldn't get my hands on it i read the manga drawn by Junji Ito. The art was so good, and really gives you great discomfort. If you can't tolerate deep topics then i would advice you to distance yourself from this manga. I can't express how i feel about this, but all there is to it is that it's really an awful story that leaves a deep impression of a human life. I think... lol actually idk.
