Kaoru, Hayashi, Yume, Matsuri, and Sakura are the last of the Byakuro ninja, who are charged with protecting the descendant of the Byakuro princess. On a training mission, the group travels to the ancient Byakuro palace to find magic scrolls, with the best scroll found guaranteeing a rite of passage to being a true ninja. But along the way, many dangers will be encountered, including monsters and the rival Kabasu clan who are determined to capture the princess herself, who, unknown even to her, is one of the ninja!

It is the peacful Edo period in Japan, and ninjas are hardly needed anymore. Karyu, a particularly skilled ninja, is forced to do work as a hired killer. She is asked to kill a merchant, but when she gets there, she finds that his servant is actually a ninja, who is just as skilled as Karyu. Her name is Uzume. Karyu and Uzume then compete against eachother in a bloody battle for superiority.
