I loved it.. I read it a long time ago but even if it made me sad and cry, it was so meaningful... Also this story is one of my favourite.

This is more of a Death Note type of shinigami where people have an estimated time of death and the shinigami end their lives prematurely rather than a Bleach type of shinigami where their job is to transport peoples' souls to the afterlife. Lives are ended by the shinigami kissing them, and for some reason they only kill those who are near death already. So when a novice shinigami, Rondo, goes to kiss feir first human girl fe has a week to do so before the girl dies. Fe's unsettled by feir jovial response to feir impending death. The girl wants to fill feir last moments with smiles rather than tears.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole shinigami being unable to cry thing. I suppose they're trying to define the cosmology of the world and show how Rondo is an exception to the rule, and as such fits uniquely into the grand cogwork. But the cosmology is left undefined in the most basic area: Why do shinigami kill people? In Death Note, they do so because their own lifespans are increased by stealing the remaining lifespans of humans, but that doesn't seem to be the case here since they focus on those with little lifespan left. So why do these shinigami kill? And what is the bunny's role? Does fe eat souls? Is that why fe's rubbing feir belly? With all these unanswered questions, I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep at night.
