Similar premise, a girl gets reincarnated into an otome game-like universe as the rival. Both mcs try to change the path the villianess ends up on in the game and try to prevent the bad things that happen to the villanesses in the game from happening to them.

LutherCarl LutherCarl says...

Very similar premise, both are about characters transported into an otome game and become the villainess, though one is comedy and starts at close to the beginning of her life, and the other starts at the destruction end of the game for the villainess and is more serious.

doublezero doublezero says...

Both are excellent stories with the concept of the protagonist being reincarnated into the villain character of an Otohime game, albeit at different points in their own respective time lines. Duke's daughter takes place mainly post game while Destruction Flag takes place pre-game.

fairyfina fairyfina says...

These two have a very similar idea, but focus on two crucial points on the timeline: before, and after the ‘love rival’ of the ‘heroine’ has been condemned.

In one, the protagonist must focus on minimising the damages of her actions and making the best of her life outside of the events of the storyline, and in the other she has to do her best to completely avoid any major events in the storyline which contribute to her ‘bad ending’ to begin with.

i think these are both fun and also fascinating stories, which while they have an incredibly similar premise, they go in completely different directions and give the reader two unique outcomes. I’d absolutely recommend them either way.

There both about being reincarnated as villians and making the best of it and or trying to survive a bad ending

LilyNoel LilyNoel says...

Both manga are role isekai that feature a japanese woman being reincarnated into a fantasy otome as the story's rich villainess. This villainess, in the original timeline, bullies the protagonist and ends up having their engagement with a prince broken and their citizenship revoked.

Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter = ADD

My Next Life as a Villainess = MNLV

The Stories Differ with the Following:

- MCs start out at different points in the game (MNLV starts before the game's events, meanwhile ADD starts after the game's events)

- ADD is a business isekai (i.e. the MC is running a small country-state and a business from poverty to riches and is primarily political), meanwhile MNLV is a standard harem isekai.

strwwberry strwwberry says...

They both have the same premise of being transported into another world in the place of a villianess, but unlike this story, Accomplishments of a Duke's Daughter starts off at the villianess having her bad ending. She's been exposed, expelled, and her engagement annulled. This story is truly about her rebuilding her reputation and that of her familys while governing a city. It's a lot more serious and focuses more only economics and politics, but it's still a good read! 10/10

Both have someone that played Otome games in their past life reincarnated as the Villianess of the game.

Only here she embraces it. (She's not very good at it)

It's her bored and twisted Fiancé that's really acts on the information given to her from past life to help avoid flags (not that he really knows what they lead to).

Fiancé's Observation Log of the Self-proclaimed Villainess = FOLSPV

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei Shiteshimatta.../My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! = MNLV:ARLD

perspective character/PC = the character whose viewpoint we see the story from

heroine character = the character a person would play in an otome game. The main focus of the game is her romance with a series of potential suitors.

rival character = a character made to stand in the way of the heroine character and one of her suitors.

Both stories similar concepts with minor differences:

1. In both, a japanese high school girl reincarnates into a rival character from one of the otome games she played before her death. In both, the rival character is seen to be an airhead, but they also work very hard to reach their goals.

 - In MNLV:ARLD, the rival character is our perspective character. Her goal is to avoid the routes where her game counterpart got murdered and prepare herself for a route where she'll most likely be exiled.

- In FOLSPV, the rival character is not our perspective character. Her goal is to intentionally follow the game's storyline in the hopes of reaching the best ending, where the first prince and the game heroine end up together. This goal would cause her to become a sacrifice for the prince's happiness.

2. In both, there are 2 prince characters, an older sadistic/twisted genius prince, and a younger prince. The older prince in both is engaged to the rival character since childhood, and both 1st princes show some form of attraction to the rival character that she fails to notice.

- In MNLV:ARLD, the first prince puts on an angelic persona to hide his more sadistic personality. He sets up his engagement to the rival character. The second prince is a tsundere who ended up with a brother complex in the game.

- In FOLSPV, the first prince is our perspective character. Because the rival character is straightforward in telling him exactly what her intentions are, he has more insight into her true nature. He also uses her knowledge of the game's event to shift things around for his own amusement. Not much is said about the second prince, but his appearance in later chapters suggests that he is a "shota/cute boy" type.

3. The heroine character is not introduced until later chapters, and both use light magic.

- In MNLV:ARLD, it's hinted that the heroine character falls in love with the rival character in lieu of her actual suitors from the game. She's a genuinely nice person that comes from a commoner family. She was accepted into the academy due to her rare magic.

- In FOLSPV, the heroine character has only just been physically introduced, but she's been mentioned by the rival character in the other chapters. In the world of FOLSPV, light magic is capable of brainwashing people, which the manga hints is how the heroine made her suitors fall in love in the game.

4. From what I can tell, the light novel for FOLSPV ended after 2 volumes, meanwhile the light novel for MNLV:ARLD has 6 volumes and is still continuing.

Being reincarnated as a villainess the mc tries to take matters into their own hands, Katarina (all routes lead to doom) eliminates her death flags one by one as she plans for back up plans in case she was exiled, Bertia (observation log) on the other hand aims to fullfil her role properly for her fiance, the prince to attain happiness.

Both are comedic and the mcs are naive.

Observation Log is set in the pov of the love interest, Prince Cecil.

I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss

When her engagement to the prince ends unceremoniously, details of the young noblewoman Aileen’s past life come rushing back and help her realize she’s living inside the world of one of her favorite otome games—as the heroine’s greatest rival! However, her memory has more plot holes than bad fan fiction… and the only certainty is that if she doesn’t do something quick, her death is all but assured. The hero/main-love-interest can’t be relied on, so why not see what the last boss has to say?

Both very comedic and a refreshing twist on the "reincarnated as a main character" trope. In both mangas, the female lead is a villainess whi has obtained memories of the game she is living in, and so has to interact with the characters to prevent her "bad end" from occuring. Would highy recommend both!

doublezero doublezero says...

Very similar stories. Both revolve around reincarnated girls who wake up in the body of the villain of some form of media. They then proceed to spend the rest of the story trying to survive their impending doom. Both are pretty comedic and light hearted, though they do deliver some genuinely dramatic elements at times, too.

NikkiNekko NikkiNekko says...

The main commonality is the fact that both of the main characters are females who were tossed into an otome game they've played as one of the antagonists. By transmigrating they effectively became another person and, while they may be worried about how the original stories ended in their world, they efficiently and effectively changed their 'end' by simply living.

The main difference, however, is how they view their position in this otome game world. Iris in 'Duke's Daughter' finds her way in politics and vast amounts of knowledge whereas Katerina has flowers growing in her brain. I don't mean to be rude, that's simply how it is. Yet, because of this, her harem romantic comedy is all the more interesting.

Therefore I would suggest 'Destruction Flags' if you are looking for a silly romance novel with lots of hot guys and the craziest protagonist you've known. 'Duke's Daughter' I would recommend if you would like to use your brain, learn a few things yourself, and see what one could really accomplish by migrating to another world!

(Do not be fooled, I love both of these stories equally for different reasons)

Both of these stories involve someone regaining their memories of their past life as a child and realizing that they are living inside of an otome game, as the villainess character. In order to prevent their deaths down the line, they meet the capture targets from the game as children and help alleviate the worries and traumas which led to them having twisted personalities. In Yandere-kei Otomege, the "villainess" is much more intentional with trying to soothe their troubled minds, while in My Next Life as a Villainess the capture targets end up soothed just from the "villainess" being herself.

There's an obvious difference in tone between the two stories, with one being more depressing and the other being more lighthearted.

Similar plotline with great art. One big difference is that it's not as lighthearted as My Next Life as a Villainess, but I think the high stakes make it just as enjoyable. It's also similar in the sense that the people surrounding her gradually warm up and it's satisfying to see her environment improve.

Both include a person reborn into a "villainess character" who recalls their previous life when they get hit on the head. From that point on both characters are focused on avoiding their "doom flags" and do everything they can to prepare for avoiding and dealing with their doom. They both are extra focused on what interests them causing them to be pretty clueless to the world and people around them. The main characters and the basis of the plot are very similar so if you like one you'll likely enjoy the other!
