𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖  >>>  I legitimately think this is one of the most underrated mangas out there. This has to be one of, if not the best high-stakes murder mystery manga out there! From beginning to end the whole ride was nothing but thoroughly thrilling and energetically enticing, that’s just how epic it was.

I think the thing this manga does the best is genuinely surprising you and keeping you on the edge with its repeated plot twists, and these plot twists are revealed so masterfully that they all make sense from the perspective of our main character and the information we have as a reader.

The other thing this manga does great gives you genuine horror while reading it. This could be the most underrated aspect of this manga but the art is genuinely drawn so horrifyingly well that the plot twists have literally given me more chills than most horror mangas failed to do. The psychological horror aspect of this story is what makes it 10/10.

People say that perfect mangas don't exist that's why they don't give anything a 10, but I follow the idea that if a manga does anything beyond what I expected from this medium of art then it has pushed the boundaries of what manga as an entertainment medium can achieve with the story, and this manga does this with being one of the most cleverly written plots and characters with genuinely horrifying art in the best moments. And one suggestion, Don't trust any characters you come across in this manga, one second you think you know what's going on, and then the very next second you will find yourself scratching your head.

I think this is one of those mangas that you should definitely try to read once in your lifetime.

This is the typical story where you keep guessing who did what while falling for twist after twist. The plot is very well done even though the author started a thing with the journalist harassement but quick forgot all about it and it was never mentioned again, as I understand this was the only "loose end" in the whole story. The art is amazing from beggining to end. The characters are also interesting and far from being a walking cliché. All in all I would recommend this manga to anyone who like mistery stories that keep you guessing until the end.

I still don't understand why Kyoka wanted to introduce her father to Yoko or why she wanted to kill her. I don't think it is ever explained.

So basically this manga is about a goofy guy wanting a girlfriend named Eiji who is known to be a son of a serial killer known as LL and he seems to have Dissociative identity disorder (DID) where he switches to his ego known as “B1” (btw why do alter egos involved in the MC’s have to be so damn badass than their original forms ? just saying). He also has a girlfriend Kyouka who treats him and she has messed up secrets of her own. Man, this manga has a lotta things happening at once that I really couldn’t try to pinpoint the memorable scenes in this horror manga because my brain just literally shut down whilst reading the rest of the manga. I really feel everyone is just going after each other at the end of the day like

I mean I wouldn’t even consider it the “best horror psychological manga I’ve ever come across” but it is still a grand read to binge if you like your Bastard, Pigpen, Death Note or other well known serial killer manga that’s out there. It also shows dead bodies so keep that in mind before you read this manga because it might be upsetting for some.

"My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought" is a gripping manga series that delves into the complexities of identity, memory, and morality. The narrative centers around Eiji Urashima, a young man who discovers he has been leading a double life as a result of dissociative identity disorder. Unbeknownst to his conscious self, his alternate personality is involved in a series of crimes, plunging Eiji into a deep and dark mystery that questions the very essence of who he is. This manga stands out for its psychological depth, intricate plot twists, and a profound exploration of the human psyche.

Elevating Elements

  • Psychological Intrigue: The series excels in its portrayal of psychological complexity, skillfully navigating the inner turmoil of its protagonist. The exploration of dissociative identity disorder is handled with nuance, offering readers a deep dive into the challenges and mysteries surrounding Eiji's condition.

  • Mystery and Suspense: The manga masterfully constructs a web of mystery and suspense, with each revelation about Eiji's alternate life adding layers to the narrative. The pacing is tight, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they piece together clues alongside the protagonist.

  • Character Development: Eiji's journey is a compelling exploration of self-discovery and redemption. The supporting cast is equally well-developed, with their interactions and personal struggles enriching the story's emotional landscape.

Challenges and Contemplations

  • Complex Narratives: While the intricate plot is one of the manga's strengths, some readers might find the twists and turns challenging to follow. The complexity of Eiji's dual lives requires careful attention to detail, which could be daunting for those seeking a more straightforward narrative.

  • Dark Themes: The exploration of crime, identity, and morality delves into dark and sometimes disturbing territory. This thematic depth is crucial to the story but may not appeal to all readers, particularly those sensitive to psychological thrillers' more intense aspects.

Unique Unfoldings

  • Exploration of Identity: "My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought" offers a unique perspective on identity and the constructs of self. The dual life of Eiji serves as a metaphor for the facades people maintain, prompting readers to reflect on their own hidden selves and the masks they wear.

  • Moral Ambiguity: The series stands out for its examination of morality, challenging readers to consider the nature of guilt and responsibility when actions are committed by an alternate personality. This moral ambiguity adds a provocative layer to the narrative, encouraging deep contemplation and discussion.

Conclusion

"My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought" has compelling blend of psychological depth, suspenseful storytelling, and thoughtful exploration of identity and morality. While navigating its complex plot and dark themes may pose a challenge, the series offers a profoundly engaging experience that resonates with readers long after the final page. Through the lens of Eiji's harrowing journey, the manga invites a deeper understanding of the human psyche and the shadows that lie within, making it a standout work in the psychological thriller genre.
