Miniamaru Kareshi

Iroha Aoyagi is a normal 16 year old girl, except, she's never fallen in love. She suspects there might be something wrong with her; until she meets her classmate Kusakabe-kun who seems well-versed and cynical about matters of love. Will Iroha be able to handle someone like Kusakabe-kun?

I'm a sucker for romance mangas with love interests who only have eyes for the main character, especially if it's a "I'm only nice to people you're nice to," type of deal. That's just a personal guilty pleasure. So yeah, this manga is your typical "heavy" love. (Similar to Hananoi-Kim to Koi yo Yamai or Dekikai Yakuza ni wa Amayakasarenai, which both feature obsessive and controlling/overly protective male love interests.)  While the other two reviews on this manga are conflicting; one saying it's extremely toxic and the other saying it's not, it's sort of in the middle. It's not a necessarily toxic relationship, but it's not exactly the healthiest. Though, I think one thing that separates this particular manga from other manga featuring similar romances is that the main character actively acknowledges that her boyfriend is NOT A GOOD PERSON. Despite acknowledging that fact, she still loves him anyways, which I find to be extremely refreshing! Often times manga similar to this treat the love interest as if stalking and stuff is ok, there's nothing wrong with it, and while this MC allows her boyfriend to do all this obsessive stuff, she never has misjudgments about his character. (Idk if that makes sense lol)  One of the other reviews also said they dropped this manga so they don't know if the boyfriend gets better at all, and I think he does slightly! He learns how to talk more with his girlfriend, learns not to be so hostile to those around him, and he also learns to cherish the people around him in his... very odd way. (He protects the feelings of the MC's friends BECAUSE they're MC's friends, but previously at the beginning of the manga he couldn't give a shit about them.)  Characters: Other than the romance, the side characters are ... yenno, side characters. You deal with their struggles for one or two chapters here and there, they're reoccurring, and they're not really fleshed out at all because they act as just advice machines for the mc and her boyfriend most the time. (If you want a good romance manga with actually fully fleshed out best friends, read Skip to Loafer) I will say though, the humor with the side characters, primarily in the first half of the manga, is pretty entertaining. They do that thing I love in manga where they break the fourth wall for humor. (Another thing, the humor is done pretty well. It's not like I'm busting up laughing reading it, but I crack a smile.)  Story: Just your typical couple trying to navigate their relationship as new problems arise. A LOT of dealing with exes/ppl who have crushes on the mc. Art: Personally, this manga's art isn't my favorite as it kinda has same face syndrome, but it's far from being ugly or bad at all!  Would I recommend? Yea, it's kind of the perfect manga to binge read since it's got so many chapters. It's not really too boring at any point, and I will admit the romantic moments do hit right. Though, don't read if you don't like boyfriends who stalk, threaten to murder ppl, and are pretty hostile to other boys who hang around the mc.
