Men of the Harem

I want to clarify that I love everything about this story—aside from the female lead. The male characters are lovely and unique both visually and personality wise and the art is lovely. I was really hoping to, she was strong, not afraid of bloodshed, but then it happened... disappointment hardly covers what this story brought. True Reverse Harems are far and few between in the first place, they always have a "choose one" issue where male counterparts rarely see the same issue, but, fine, whatever... What truly irks me is that while choosing the members of the harem she seemed quite interested in them, and once they arrive she somehow transforms into an asexual being that has the mental purity of a five year old girl. It is ENRAGING. Dangling a carrot that the female lead might have an ounce of sexual energy for once in a harem then evaporating it? Dropping this so fast. Asking for multiple concubines then pretending you don't know how a harem works is the easiest way to lose readers if you ask me. 100% will not finish.

I was really excited for this manwha since I saw the novel cover and had great hopes it would be delivering what the name suggested. A dominant woman who uses concubines for pleasure in a political setting  The start was quite interesting and I enjoyed when she sized the throne but I am disappointed bc it did not deliver on my expectations. For me it feels like she ignores her concubines and even though she most likely pressured for concubines so she would have the equality as a male emperor I would have wanted to see her actually spend the night with them properly instead of often rejecteting them all the time and avoiding. Had high hopes but ended up dropping it sadly, a manwha that I feel delivered on the promise of a dominant woman was " The princess jewels " on Webtoon so I highly recommend that

I don't usually give reviews, but I believe this manhwa deserves one. Story "Scorned by her lover and thrown into power after the mysterious assassination of her father, Latil must marry to secure her sovereignty of Tarium. Instead of choosing one man to become her Royal Consort, she chooses five young men from all walks of life to join her Harem. Will Latil ever solve her father’s murder, and can she keep the peace in her Harem?" Seems pretty unique right? I am not a fan of reverse harems but when they are done right, they become my favorite thing. The manhwa still has only 28 chapters out, so I can't really judge the story well but it is pretty promising. Art The art is absolutely gorgeous. The artist who made this series is the one who also made Remarried Empress, which is another webtoon with a very strong story. Characters This webtoon has something most of the other webtoons don't have, respect between females. Usually, there is the main female lead and the secondary female character who is a bitch and tries to steal the female lead's love interest, but in this webtoon, they respect each other and don't cry over the male lead. The main character is very much likable and capable of taking care of herself, at the same time, can be vulnerable. She's very well-written and has all the aspects a strong female lead can have. Overall I recommend this webtoon to everyone who are in for a nice historical romance manhwa.
