A young orphan was alone in the world until he meets the master of a secret form of martial arts. To learn these otherworldly techniques, he will need to endure years of his sadistic teacher’s grueling and weird training. But why does he have to do laundry, cook meals, or play instruments to learn martial arts anyway?! If he can survive long enough (and if his massive ego doesn’t get in the way), he just might be able to wield the unstoppable lightning knives. Will he make the cut or be sliced down to size?
I NEVER do reviews, but this manhwa caught my attention, not only is it underrated for such as MASTERPIECE, but no one talks about it. This story showcases beautiful story writing, where the MC doesn't get overpowered, but actually has to face difficulties unlike many other stories. Also the author writing adds comedy, and many other elements so the story doesn't feel repetetive, althought the first couple of chapters are slow, once you get into the plot you WILL be hooked. I'm not too concered about the art as long as its average, but this manhwa art may look like any other manhwas art, but the level of detail put between each pciture is huge, like adding shadows from buildings casting on other objects, overall the art just goes that extra mile which it has no need to go. The characters are AMAZING, each one you will care about, either if its from hatred, to liking them, you will not lose focus on the characters, which is also important since many of the previous characters which are used in a different plot show up, making you remember them, even though they are just side characters. Overall, this manhwa will definitely make you feel an experince you have never felt before, and I think that this story should be given more recognition for the amazing story telling, and capturing you into its develpment, although the story starts off slow, right after the plot kicks in you WILL not be able to stop reading the chapters!
I hear a lot of people lauding the comedy of this manhwa, and although it was fairly enjoyable and still sometimes is, it's largely based on people just being assholes to each other, and it gets repetitive. The first couple of arcs, especially the last arc before the time skip are very enjoyable. But once the MC grows up I stop being able to enjoy the story. The MC is strong, which isn't a problem in itself, but he loves lauding his power over others and is a douchebag about it. He doesn't think things through and he feels like the same child as before despite being an adult. The story is decent, although fairly basic. Poor kid gets rescued by old master and trains to become strong and meets a childhood friend-girl, whom he looks for after growing up. However, although we don't need a goal for the parts where he lives with his master, there is a severe lack of external stimulus to drive the story forward, MC just wants to see the girl. If there were complicated matters around that forced him into certain difficult situations, or there was more to his motivation of 'see pretty girl' then I think it could save the immaturity of the character. I think a good example of a really douchebag-comedy character that works because of motivation is in "The Return of the Mount Hua Sect". The motivation is simple, restore the sect. But there are goals that excuse him from being an asshole to people, such as teaching them about the world, or to reduce their ego, etc. But we lack that here. MC is just an asshole for the sake of comedy and it gets annoying.
(never done a review b4, so its a first)From the beginning, we could actually see the MC's progress and development and his difficulties unlike other manhwas were we dont see much and suddenly the MC is OP. I also love the humour! Each chapter made me laugh so much!!! lol. The art is actually really pretty and good... its pretty detailed, and it doesnt hurt my eyes unlike other manhwas... The art seems to be in the same par of Volcanic Age. The MC's master is also pretty funny... And I really like how the author made an arc were the MC gets disciples and then teaches them to get stronger... They're is super funny lol. What is higher than the sky? -Master's authority!!!- The higher you look up to, the higher you touch? -Master's grace!!!- What is deeper than the ocean? -Master's love!!!- It seems like the translator is going to drop it because everybody is reading his translations in other ripped sites so thats a problem... I hope this gets picked up again...
