In present day Japan, the life of a school girl is never dull. The easily-bored Konata never finds time to study because of her otaku habits, which frustrates hard-working Kagami to no end. On the other hand, laid-back Tsukasa always manages to go with the flow, while Miyuki is concerned with keeping her status as resident know-it-all. Join these four girls as they muse and meander their way through everyday events such as eating chocolate cones, doing homework, gaming, and trips to the beach galore.
Name: Lucky StarGenre: Comedy, Slice-of-Life, School Life, 4-komaPlot: Lucky Star centers around the high-school lives of Konata, Kagami, Kagami's twin sister Tsukasa, and the girls' friends and supporting cast of high school classmates. It is a comedy 4-koma with some slice-of-life mixed in. There is no larger plot or goal.Rating: 8.5/10 or 4 stars of 5.Why: I found Lucky Star to be very enjoyable to read. I enjoyed being able to pick it up, read a couple strips on the go and then set it down. Most of the jokes are not laugh-out-loud; its brand of comedy seems to be more of the type to bring a smile to your face or at best make you chuckle a little at the characters' silliness. The art is cute, but due to the style there are very few detailed drawings; most of the time it is drawn in chibi or semi-chibi form.Pros:~Reasonably funny.~Cute, if not extremely detailed, art.~Great for reading on the go.Cons:~No huge laugh out loud moments.~Plotline and style may not be everyone's cup of tea.Recommended: Yes.
