I would've lost my mind if I had to read this chapter by chapter as it was coming out. Thankfully I didn't have to and instead spent all day reading this.

I'll start by saying I liked this manhwa, dare I say kinda love it actually. The writing as far as the dialogue and the character's thoughts was very well done and one of the stronger parts of this story. Eunho is a very sympathetic character and I felt his emotions regarding his deep love for Jaeha. He's cute, perceptive and loyal to a fault. Jaeha on the other hand is complicated, guarded and beautiful. He had a bitchiness to him that thankfully he acknowledged and felt guilty about and to that, I say "thank god". There's little worse than a selfish person that lacks self-awareness. I think one of the aspects of Jaeha as a character that made me like him too was the fact that I relate to him. Making mistakes and having the guilt eat you alive is a very human experience. Also, Hanjun is my favourite character and I'm upset that we didn't at least get a side story about him.

Their relationship could be divided into 3 acts and they took the long road getting to the end but I appreciate that it wasn't easy. Honestly, if they had just gotten together at the start when it looked like it was happily ever after, Jaeha wouldn't have truly understood Eunho and the pain he put him through.

If you're like me and you love childhood friends, younger semes, extreme loyalty, beautiful ukes, many chapters and ANGST, then you should check this one out. Overall pretty good but not for everyone.

I get that failed past relationships will make you miserable and NOT want to date again but MAN Jaeha's indecisiveness really gets on my nerves... after getting the courage to tell his newfound feelings to lover boy Eunho (who has been crushing him for years) he just simply destroyed it after spending some quality time BECAUSE he wants Eunho to have a secure future, and the CAUSE of it?? Being shaken by Eunho's family's words for crying out loud.

Their journey felt tedious ngl since it's a slice of life drama without any action/fantasy elements it's bound to be a dragged out slow burn with the characters searching for their true real feelings in the gutter. This manhwa is no exception, still they could've handled it better... the two main frustrates the hell outta me imo especially Jaeha (Eunho's just a lovesick puppy🤷‍♀️). The likeable ones are Sookyung and Hanjun (dun mind the spelling). To sum up the whole thing theirs the kind of issues that can be solved with regular couples therapy sessions. FACTS.

And breaking up with someone by the beach seems to be the trend in these romance manhwas (i dunno if it happens in reality too or just a fictional thing)... what a glorious way to end things.

This manhwa is not a fluffy love story and that's clear early on. It's got a solemn, subdued feeling to it and possesses an underlying sense of displacement, the black and white art style really adds to this. It's definitely a more emotionally mature and complex story than your typical rom com so a lot of people might be put off by it.

Personally, I adored it. I thought the author did a great job of making both characters understandable, sympathetic, and flawed. Jaeha is dealing with very real adult problems and the fear of being outed in a society that will condemn him, which leads to a lot of conflict between him and Eunho. Eunho on the other hand, is barely an adult and can't understand fully what Jaeha is dealing with, he's blinded by love and heartbreak. The author really showed the gap in experience the two have. it was such a pleasure watching the two grow and find love with the other. I think one issue with this story is that readers who are a lot younger are not going to understand Jaeha's perspective, which I'm guessing is what lead to all the comments I read of people hating on him.

I highly recommend it for people who are looking for something less tropey, more realistic, and angsty with a happy ending.

Though I can't stand all the hate for Jaeha just because he couldn't accept Eunho's feelings. Jaeha basically knew Eunho when Eunho was 3 years old plus they had a 8 year age gap so I don't blame Jaeha for not looking at Eunho romantically. It was sad to watch how they build up the relationship and then Jaeha just decided to end it, I really thought he was going to proposed. Poor Eunho got his heart broken on the day he wants to propose. Though I also feel bad for Jaeha, I honestly think Jaeha deserved better so does Eunho. The miscommunication played a huge part in this whole story and I’m really happy that they ended up together again without the misunderstanding or miscommunications. Thank the lord/author to have blessed my soul with extra side stories.
