A book like a box of chocolate I was already familiar with Nagabe's work when I found this manga. Still, it managed to surprise me. This book contains six short stories, that are not related to each other. And it is extremly lovely. Each story is like a piece of artisan-made chocolate. With unique storylines, with unique flavours. We have a story sweet like caramel milk chocolate, about friendship of a sickly lady and a raven. Then we have the bittersweet dark chocolate, the chilling story of a monster that has adopted a small child but is planning to eat her later. And my personal favourite, the story which I can only describe as dark chocolate filled with rasberry marmalade, the innocent friendship of a girl and a lonely vampire (which is the most adorable vampire I have ever, ever seen!!!). (Then we have the one shitty chocolate everyone hates but we don't talk about that story with grooming undertones. Nagabe, it might not have been your intention, but please. Nope. ) Every character design is unique (even though the female character tend to look like sisters of each other), especially the non-humans. Nagabe's art style is chilling and interesting to look at. What else can I say? This book is a piece of art! (Except that highly icky wolf-man story.)
