Sadly, i have not seen the films so my review will be based solley off of the manga itself. (mild swearing so you can only be mildy offended :))
Personally, i love these kind of plots, where there is a cold-blooded female lead, and shows little to no shit for others. i really enjoyed how the story started off and thought that the plot stayed pretty true to what it said it would be. sadly there was as not much character development (but im not sure if that would be a bad thing for others) I liked the soft-core hentai since it didn't draw too much away from the actual plot line and was pleased with the plot.
Downsides:
-if you seen the movie, your opinion will naturally compare the two
-not a lot of surprises, if you like the plot, you like the story

if any one has any recomedations for a lead that gives no shit to others PLEASE TELL ME
Thank you! and i hope this reveiw was helpful!
*i am very stern at rating manga
This was just okay. I'm not hating on it or anything. The story, the characters, the plot, the art, it was all done pretty well. But it just didn't hit me. The story of a revenge so strong it passed on from mother to daughter. I mean, it does sound like something interesting, but I just couldn't get myself to really like it. It helped pass the time, but nothing more. A lot of bad people died, which I always root for, so I guess that's pretty good. Oyuki Kashima is without a doubt, one of the deadliest and most beautiful women I've seen in a manga. She actually reminds me of Ogami Ittō from the "Lone Wolf and Cub" manga series. Heck, if those two got together...they'd be an unstoppable duo, and have have the deadliest children in all of Japan. I did enjoy the scenes where Oyuki pleasured herself with the company of women - but was she a lesbian, or was she bisexual? I don't know if other people will like it, but I suppose they should at least give it a chance.
This is a fun manga with many well-crafted stories. Most of the stories are episodic while the main plot develops behind it. The character art is good but the backgrounds and some textures could be better. The characters are interesting and the reader feels bad for the heroine's plight. All in all, I would recommend this manga for those who want something more serious and get away from the typical shonens a bit.
If you're a fan of the 1973 film, then this manga will probably be a huge disappointment to you. But if you're looking for pointless softcore hentai, pick this up.
