The Apothecary Diaries Manga

Maomao, a young woman trained in the art of herbal medicine, is forced to work as a lowly servant in the inner palace. Though she yearns for life outside its perfumed halls, she isn’t long for a life of drudgery! Maomao , a little cutie(but also peculiar) girl who wants to learn as much as possible about the benefits of herbs. It was almost inevitable that Jinshi, the playboy of the court, to notice this tomboy. She is too preoccupied with studying but this eunuch starts helping her, which might "catalyse" something inside her. Well, Maomao has all my respect for her lucid and rational way of thinking( 99% of time) .

i'm personally still reading this manga and still think it is the one of the best. i always want to know more about the world that resolve around Mao Mao ( i think she is super cute even if she can be scary at time), i love approximatevely all the character except maybe two of them. Overall i think it is a good manga with some subject that can be offensive but it was probably like that where Mao mao is so i think it is a good thing that the author display the reality of the Era she was in. I recommend it !

I'm utterly biased in my review because I myself am a pharmacy student and it's a whole lot interesting cause there's so much stuff I can learn here. That said, THIS IS NOT A READ FOR THE WEAK-HEARTED. Many said that it's comedy and stuff, but no, this manga speaks of many sensitive topics in a stoic dismissive way such as pedophilia, drug use, sexual worker, murder, etc. But the thing is, this work is an accurate depiction of the era they were in which is where the position of women and society as a whole is still screwed. The MC itself, raised in such an environment and seeing from her POV, is bound to see such cruelty as something normal as it is common in their era at that time. Plus, it is in her character to dismiss any issue that is not related to her as she is also trying to live. If you like dark humor and could stand sensitive topics to be talked about with such ease, then there's no problem. But if you can't, then you better not read. I myself like this kinda dark and comedic literature so I will rate it a 10.
