Even though this manga revolves around the koto (and that is what brought all the characters together) the story encapsulates so much more than music-- and it does so beautifully. It showcases the ups and downs from real life never wavering to be true to itself. The characters have gone through a lot of development thus far and I am sure there is more to come. The art is one of my favorites and you can tell that there is an abundance of love poured into it. I always look forward to reading Kono Oto Tomare because it does a great job of making everything around me disappear. It takes me into the world of the Tokise high school students to the point where I laugh, cry, and smile with them because of how great the writing and art is. For all these reasons, plus some, this is my favorite manga and it deserves all the appreciation in the world. 11/10.
it's really a beautiful manga, it is well balanced, it has the potential to make the reader feel different emotions at the same time, it's more focused on Koto than romance and that's why the slowburn is really the best- neither rushed nor too slow or any meaningless scene between the couples, the characters try to understand each other deeply and get close slowly and more importantly the artstyle makes the emotions better, the emotions on the faces of the characters can be understood really well and so the readers can focus on the manga better
for me the best part of this manga are the characters and their backstory
it's one of my favorite manga, the anime I saw two years ago brought me here and I caught up to the recent chapter in 3 days by this I mean it was worth my time
This is so so so good. It's a bit of a slow burn, but absolutely worth the effort. The characters are dynamic and likeable. Really strong character growth. The art is great and does a good job of conveying the emotion behind the music.
The plot is good. Very few, if any, filler chapters. The romance is present, but it's such a natural part of the manga that it doesn't feel forced or beats you over the head with it.
Absolutely worth your time.
I rather the manga to the anime because I feel like some of the pacing in the anime is off, I can also read the koto playing parts quickly which are quite boring and long in the anime. This manga is sooo good, it goes so indepth into all the characters and gives them real, relatable back stories. It has a great balance between raw, emotional scenes and humerous light hearted ones. Each character is different to the other and goes through incredible character development. Chika is my favourite character as he is kind, driven and stubborn. He has flaws and he improves on them, he isn't a perfect character. I love the focus the manga has on the characters relationships with one another. The best stories, have the most interesting characters. Kono Oto Tomare shows different characters, that would be unlikely friends, come closer through their shared love of the Koto. I also love the slow burn love between Chika and Hoizuki, an enemy to lovers relationship never disapoints me. I desperatley want more of the manga turned into an anime, especially with the new characters. I 100% reccomend this manga as it is the best manga I have ever read. And I am very excited for the new chapters!!
