World of magic stories set in school at least at first with a seemingly op kind of decent lead male character who makes valuable friends or relatives as close allies. The lead male characters harbor secrets (Eru that he is from another world and has his memories of them, and Tatsuya from his work and alt identities and actual powers). The lead male character is not only a powerful magic user himself but is a top or the top ranked magic equipment developer and engineer. Both leads can take on opponents and win that make witnesses drop their jaws. They are both thought of by one or more important and powerful parties as being a world threat and/or simply too powerful. These stories while charming and somewhat well written fall into some issues that may deter interest until they are either clarified or resolved. They trained and learned their skills more or less in secret from most and later their levels of skill and training surprises one or more important and/or close parties.

These stories share many similiarities. They are in a world dominated by hostile giant monsters that kill and eat humans. They fight back with technologies and even their own giants. The lead characters are powerful and virtual prodigies with effort, power, skill, and/or intellect. The lead characters beat or challenge opponents no one else ever would dare to and sometimes even win single handedly. Horses are prominent transport in both worlds. Neither has advanced technology like long distance instant communication or aircraft (at least not at first). Students taking those courses the leads are in can get severely hurt or even killed during their education. Both have dangers within and without the human world.
