Both Kill the Hero and Only I Level Up: Solo Leveling are titles where a male protagonist come back from death to become powerful entities in our world where dungeons, monsters, and humans gaining powers emerged in recent times.

Kill the Hero is great for a revenge streak with the twist that the hero and his organization turned out to be the bad guys. The protagonist goes back in time and advances as a powered human of a class different from his first time: a Necromancer class.

Only I Level Up: Solo Leveling is a popular work whose story evolves around the mystery of what happened to the protagonist when he came back from the brink of death in a hidden sub-dungeon (dungeon within a dungeon). Where Kill the Hero is reliving a world already known to the protagonist, Solo Leveling is full of unknowns that keep you invested in its world, the protagonist, and what comes next with every reveal. Plus the webtoon adaptation of the original Webnovel has some great epilogue content to look forward to.

Both the artsyle and overall feel of these two manhwa are very similar. The MCs have been sent back into the past after a gruesome betrayal that lead to the down fall of them and a group of their trusted friends but right before their death they are sent back to the past with an ability and the knowledge of the future. The approach and arrogant attitude of the MCs as they confidently rise above those who's tand in their way is very satisfying to see!!

UnluckySituation UnluckySituation says...

Both MC back in time. And now they have changed they worldview. Now they are doing evrtyhing to achiv they goal.

Both MC know future events.

In both world, are: skills, special object (artifact).

Mistfall Mistfall says...

Both titles are about heroes returning in time and fighting against diungeons and in both main hero heavily use knowledge from first life to be brutally efficient and knowing about factions and powerstructure.

Similar story about future hunters and their solo paths. LUA is simplistic story for younger audience wich characters either good or bad, KtH is more mature with majority being evil if incentives are good enough.

Both involve a structure where God's show interest and become sponsors in a sense to the player. Both MCs were very powerful but faced a brutal reality of their circumstances they end up traveling back in time and take advantage of the knowlege from the future to change their fate. Both MCs are cunning and not endlessly kind but rather putting their own survival and strength above those around them. Both are really good reads!

ibeblastemthemhaters ibeblastemthemhaters says...

Both mc kind of have the same goal... Revenge in "Kill the Hero" the mc gets sent back to the the past and partakes in a journey to stop a certain group from "Ruling the world" and killing him and his friends again.

In "Return to Player" the mc´s world turns into a game that the gods made for fun, with the simple goal of eradicating the human kind. At the end the mc was the only one to survive the game. The mc achived the ending "A Bad Ending" called "A Lonely World" and then recived a pacage that even the gods didnt know about and was sent back to the past with his sole goal of changing the future for human kinds survival.

In Kill the Hero MC is set on revenge against the man who betrayed and killed him and is determined to destroy the man's plans and to kill him.

In Second Life Ranker MC is set on revenge against those that betrayed and murdered his brother. He's determined to topple the system and shake the tower up for getting his brother in such a position in the first place.

Both MC's raise the dead. There is a difference however. In Kill the Hero the MC raises skeleton soldiers who are noncognitive (they have no thoughts or feelings and are very much puppets) while in Second Life Ranker it's shown that while they are loyal to MC he has to raise their loyalty to him and they also are cognitive (especially the humans that he raises).

If you enjoy one series, I believe you'll enjoy the other as well.

Both mangas are about returning in time and fighting against dungeons again - what is key difference to consider in season 1 of both mangas is that in KtH the story is about fights itself, in PLR it is about using knowledge about finantial world to prepare for fight.
