Since the Edo periods of Japan, gladiator arenas exist in certain areas. In these arenas, wealthy business owners and merchants hire gladiators to fight in unarmed combat where winner takes all. Tokita Ouma, nicknamed "Ashura", joins these arenas and devastates his opponents. His spectacular ability to crush his enemies catches the attention of the big business owners, including the Nogi Group chairman, Nogi Hideki.
Kengan Ashura... This manga was intense and had made an impression on me. The story is a simple, not all over the place. Has the right amount of twists that wouldn't leave you confused or having you re-read it like 10 times. Simple, strait plot story. Especially that ending....(MY HEART). The art is good and isn't complicated or badly drawn. The characters are all unique in their combat style, appearances, and personalities. Each have some ambition or reasoning to fight in the tournament. The managers are the same way. All these characters became my favorite because they are so likeable, except a few. This manga had me at the edge of my seat with ever battle and had me curious with ever plot twist and background. If you like intense action and crazy violence then go read ahead.
