Kanashii (Itoshii) Kotoba Manga

After his mother passed away, Kyousuke decided to live alone and transfer to another school. There he met a rather peculiar classmate named Kaname who's unable to talk. Although Kaname cannot speak, he was able to somehow convey his feelings clearly through writing and facial expressions that made Kyousuke more drawn to him. However, Kaname's cousin, Satoshi noticed the intimacy developing between the two which he could not approve! A sweet ardent, story of pure love unfolds.

The story is too short, but it's really sweet. Kaname sealed off his voice because his father thought he sounded like his mother and couldn't bear it. His father committed suicide though and Kaname went to live with his cousin. Kyousuke recently lost his mother and has transfered schools. Kyosuke meets Kaname and is drawn in by the peculiar boy who never speaks. The others say Kaname has no voice, but Kyosuke hears Kanames voice in the gestures and expressions Kaname makes and falls in love. When Kyosuke learns that Kanames cousin, Satoshi, treats Kaname terribly, he wants to protect Kaname. At the same time Kyosuke wants to be free of his father too, free from a family that didn't want him. He was basically an illegitimate child and his mother died still in love with his father. Kyosuke isn't interested in inherriting anything from his father though. However, both are minors which means the law is not on their side and neither are the adults. They must fight to get out from under the adults that hurt them. It's really cute. The theme of minors powerless against adults makes it more realistic. The fact that Kaname forces himself to be mute makes the story unique. There is no rape and only a couple quick sex scenes that are barely given any attention at all. The ending was adorable too. I highly reccomend this.
