My Quiet Blacksmith Life in Another World

Eizo Tanya is a middle-aged, very burned-out, software engineer. One night after working late, he throws himself in front of a speeding truck to save a cat. Although the cat survives, Eizo is not so lucky. In a spark of divine fate, the cat turns out to be a godlike being who offers him a second chance in another world! Should he be a legendary warrior? A noble king? Nope! All Eizo wants is a peaceful life making things for others, and what better way to do that than becoming a blacksmith? He does have one other wish: to live alongside a cute cat. His requests are granted but with a twist—Eizo’s blacksmithing skills are so overpowered that they’re practically cheat abilities. On top of that, the cat companion he wished for turns out to be a half-tiger girl! With so much commotion in this world, will Eizo be able to forge a quiet new life?

I'm into it. I appreciate the chill way potential moments of tension have been resolved (like when Eizo didn't try to hide the fact that fe'd seen Samia naked and instead just explained feir thought process behind feir actions). Other manga would've dealt with those situations in immaturely dramatic ways, so the difference in tone is nice. I also appreciate the way that Eizo tries to reflect on the effects feir super powerful and sharp weapons might have on the world at large, and consequently makes most of feir products to be weaker than the max level fe is capable of. For a reference point, fe makes blades that can cut through trees like tofu and which don't seem to chip or wear very easily (though the sharpness is the trait most frequently commented upon). At first, fe was selling stuff at an open market until fe eventually got more well known because of the high quality of feir product. Currently, fe is selling stock swords and knives to a wholesaler and making custom weapons to people who are able to travel to feir isolated home in the Black Forest. Fe doesn't price gouge and instead tries to make feir products affordable, even though they are of a higher quality than anything anyone in this world can make. The reason fe can make such high quality stuff is because fe was given ingrained knowledge about blacksmithing and so fe can read the metal while fe's working on it and knows exactly what to do. It's a cheat ability. There is some nudity in the first chapter, but so far that's been the only instance of it. The lecher in me is disappointed, but it's not as though the story is worse of for having less nudity. And I'm sure eventually, once a romance develops between Eizo and Samia, we'll see some more nudity (perhaps even sexualized nudity). Samia is a beastkin girl. There is also a dwarf girl named Riku who is working as Eizo's apprentice. I like some of the smudging and effects used for the trees and other stuff in the backgrounds. It doesn't quite match the rest of the art, but it still looks beautiful. The girls, and their outfits and stuff, are cute. There are solid details and crisp lines to the art. The expressions can feel a tiny bit sloppy at times, but I think they're still good. [Reviewed at chapter 10]
