RynaTantei RynaTantei says...

Both travel back in time to a bygone era of japan, carrying an aura of wistful nostalgia for Japanese and feeding curiousity in the foreigner. The protagonist attempts to make the most of this supernatural occurrence.

The difference: Jin, going back to the Meiji Restoration, approaches the time travel seriously and knowledgably, while A Distant Neighbourhood, which stays within the character's lifetime, focuses more on emotions.
